Move Abroad And Thrive

Күн бұрын

This guy drove to Mexico twice! Robert shares tips and advice on what to do before making that drive to Mexico from the US.
He also shares his experiences about moving to and living in Mexico full-time.
This was one of my favorite interviews. I can't wait for you all to meet this guy; other than being a Dallas Cowboys fan, he's an alright guy, lol.
Please comment and share this video. People all over are struggling to find alternative ways to make their lives less stressful and burdensome.
Moving abroad opens up the door for you to live a more quality life while thriving more on less!

I missed this video. I’m so glad I stumbled on it because we will be driving soon to Merida with our 2 dogs, and a small enclosed utility trailer with some of our belongings. We noticed when we went shopping for household goods in Merida they don’t have Keurig coffee makers there but they do have the Nepresso. We have both of those coffee makers we will bring with us. Robert, few years ago we bought the plastic k cups because we like our favorite coffees. And Merida has great coffee imo. This video was very helpful. Thank you Robert. Thanks again Cartess and Robert.

I paid to have my apartment emptied, because selling would have gotten me killed or fake money. I came with one suitcase and a backpack at 79. I do speak Spanish as a second language, and have been coming to Mexico for over 60 years and around the world on my own dime. Loved the interview. I do have a few questions. When crossing the border with your car loaded down, did they go through your things? Did you have to have a list of all that you packed and the monetary value? Also, when staying at the hotels, did you unload your car and bring everything inside? And the final questions..Do you recall how much you spent in tolls once you hit Mexico? Which border did you use to cross into Mexico? My research is showing Laredo-Colombia border as the safest.

15 years ago my family and I drove down to Campeche (a neighboring state to Yucatan) from Omaha, Nebraska. It was me and my two kids, my husband at the time, his brother, and two of his kids all in an Extended Cab F-150. The back of our truck was full of our luggage plus clothing and gifts for our family that live in Campeche and parts for my father-in-law's truck that he could not find down there. We did not have any problems driving down, besides the occasional horrible road. I love road trips so I was in heaven! We drove down the coast and the scenery was amazing! I'm planning on moving down to Merida in a couple of years. I need to build up my business so I can run it remotely from down there and just fly back up to the United States a couple of times a year. I don't know what the used book stores are like in Merida, but on my original trip I brought a couple dozen books with me to read while I was there. I plan on doing the same when I move down for good. I will be driving down again because I will be bringing my dog with me and no way am I leaving my favorite kitchen toys in the United States LOL

@Nightbird. Жыл бұрын
@@tasharhodes8969 I've never heard or seen anything about the cartels at the borders. But it's hotter and more humid in Merida than Florida and Texas. And it's hot most of the year. So if you hate the heat like I do don't move there and find a cooler area in MX. But if you plan on staying inside in air conditioning most of the time then Merida is truly the safest and greatest city in all of MX. As for real estate..just use google and type in "Merida Yucatan real estate" or something similar. Good luck!

There's so much to do, a more relaxed ,less stressful way of life, more affordable and great people that I've been meeting online prior to going. But can't wait to meet them and new people in person. Perhaps the rating by the woman from CA was a rating of her level of happiness, rather than a rating of life in a place.

Many places do have hot showers. Before renting, you just gotta ask about it before u sign that lease.

Fellas can a brotha get a haircut down there? My wife and I are considering 3 options. Cancun, Merida or Playa Del Carmen.
@MoveAbroadandThrive

U can find spots to get a haircut for sure. Dig deeper into Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. I've been hearing a lot of chatter about the uptick in violence and an issue with the beaches in Playa with seaweed/moss (or something ... I could be wrong). But investigate and jump in the groups to hear what others living there are saying).

Without a work visa (or company sponsoring you), you can't work here. Most foreigners here have income coming from retirement/pensions, work remotely, own their own business. Remote work is an option for you.
