What a great writer Hemingway was: His characters are so genuine and true to Real life. This is one of my all-time favorite films. Gary Cooper, also an all-time favorite actor. Such a great film--that has everything: romance, action, a terrific musical score, and great true-to-life characters so well performed.

Ingrid Burgman one of my twins is named after, I do love them both. Shy, quiet, loving & highly intelligent. Both Amazing women. Had this book for years as a young girl. Saved it to read someday, when I learned how. I never learned how to read till I taught myself in my late twenties, & have never stopped reading since. Working on my second library now, the first one I gave away to a convalescent hospital that I worked at that had no books for anyone. Now I have a library of the ones I love books & their authors, that I have or will read again & again, we have a connection/relationship. Never replaced this book "For Whom The Bell Tolls" but will enjoy the movie today. My companion is sick with teeth pain/fever so I will stay home with her today or she won't rest or eat without me. Sammers my female TacoBell Chi that is half Bizan frige' a little white dog. She acts like the lil white dog, I love her so my special girl for over thirteen years now. Time for movie. It's a great show & a classic. Peace.

The conjunctions "but" in South brazilian portuguese (mas) and the word self (mesmo) are used here to introduce anything) was a lot of water under the bridge since the end of the lost planet of the seventh art... We had to read the book for our high school English class in the U.S. I didn't realize in high school that the Republican side in the Spanish Civil War was represented by the Communists and the Soviet Union. On the other side, General Francisco Franco represented the Catholic Church and the Monarchy and the Democratic government. Franco was supported by Hitler and Mussolini, which made him unpopular, yet Franco was one of the main Spanish generals that preserved the Church and the royal family of Spain and its traditional heritage of Spain.

This was a tough book to get through but this movie is just terrible. I haven't heard dialogue in a movie as bad as this since I saw Moonstruck. The characters are one dimentional and the white guy is the only one who doesn't speak like a child. But the California Sierras stand for Spain pretty well until you realize how fake some of the backgrounds are. Bergman was so eager to finish off Casablanca so she could star in this "prestige" film. Now which film is remembered. I never realized how she uses the same motions as an actress in every film: the sacred look, the whispered sentences, and the fake trembling lip. And she only mentions her hair every sentence or two. Hey, you ever wonder why Hemingway isn't taught in literature classes anymore?
