Forbidden waren eine der ersten Thrash Metal Bands überhaupt und klingen auch heute kein bisschen gealtert. Die Bay Area-Urgesteine um Gitarrist Craig Locicero sind nach einer langen Pause seit 2023 wieder aktiv und sorgen bei Festivals für Furore.
Zusammen mit Death Angel, Vio-lence, Defiance, Testament und Exodus gehören Forbidden zu den erfolgreichsten Thrash-Metal-Bands aus der Bay Area. 1985 als Forbidden Evil gegründet, kürzen sie 1987 ihren Namen und erspielen sich innerhalb kürzester Zeit eine treue Fangemeinde im Metal-Underground. Auch die Kritik ist begeistert: Ihr Debütalbum „Forbidden Evil“ (1988) gilt als Thrash-Metal-Klassiker, sein Nachfolger „Twisted Into Form“ (1990) als Meisterwerk des Tech-Thrash-Genres. Auf ihrem vierten Album „Green“ (1997) arbeitet die Band auch mit Alternative- und Groove-Metal-Elementen.
Nach der ersten Auflösung im Jahr 1997 kommen Forbidden 2007 erneut zusammen. 2012 legen sie eine unbestimmte Pause ein und sind seit 2023 mit zwei Neuzugängen wieder aktiv. Die aktuelle Besetzung der Band besteht aus Norman Skinner (Gesang), Craig Locicero (Gitarre), Matt Camacho (Bass), Steve Smyth (Gitarre) und Chris Kontos (Schlagzeug).

That's my brutha's from Freakmont, that whole second album was written by Craig on my little Gorilla amp, i would bring it to school every day, so he could write songs in the little sound proof rooms in the music classroom while we were in guitar class. I could see him in there shred'n away but couldn't hear him, i just wanted to go sit in there with him and watch him TEAR IT UP FORBIDDEN RULES 🤘😎🤘

Saw them 15 years ago at rock hard. Since then Forbidden Evil is one of my favorite thrash metal songs. Especially the last melody. So good Rob Flynn had to take it with him to Machine Heads Song Aestetics of Hate.

Twisted into Form is one of my all-time favourite tunes. I loved Russ on vocals. I'm on the fence about this guy. Sometimes he sounds spot on, and other times not so much. Great sound though, and the band is right.

Lol. I love this band, and I know Matt, his ex, and his kids. I’ve been to his parents house in the old days. I used to watch forbidden rehearse - I am a nobody, but also quite entrenched in Bay Area 80s thrash - my point is of you know you know and maybe you should look into early days of Forbidden and who played on the albums. That said I’m glad he’s in the fold and they’re back again. Cheers

@@danielpolsinger7565 We both know that it is not as simple as this. Forbidden used to have one of the most versatile singers, in order to support their very technically approached Thrash. I believe that they will make a great record, but I also hope that they will improve their vocals.

He's not all that bad.. maybe a little thin and screechy in areas.. definitely not nailing the powerful smooth mids and highs that Russ could do... Russ kinda lost that ability to though. Russ's highs were more like early Dickinson. Overall I think the band sounds pretty good here, and am glad this is happening! Definitely going to see them!!
