In this video, we are going to make a comparison of two inflatable sleeping pads similar in price and features - Forclaz MT500 Air and Hikenture Camping Sleeping Pad. We have been using Hikenture sleeping pad for many years now and the Forclaz pad we just recently purchased. So we are going to look at and discuss their main differences, advantages and disadvantages. In particular we are interested to see how different they are in terms of their production quality and comfort characteristics. And in the end we will share which of these two sleeping pads we prefer for ourselves.

Hi, both of them have a to low R-value to be comfortable. When the ground is moist (like in the Netherlands) it gets fast cold with these mats. I use an Exped Synmat 7LW with an R-value of almost 5. It is twice as heavy but a good sleep is worth a lot. The Synmat is also a bit thicker and has a build in handpump.

Thanks for the tips! It is good to know! It is true that is all depends on the country and area you are going to use it for. As we were hiking in mostly warm destinations and seasons it worked for us. When it was late autumn in Pyrenees it was getting uncomfortable too. But we always use the foam mats underneath and it helps some.

@@WalkingNatureWorld True, a foam mat increases the isolation but it is another item to carry. The disadvantage of the foam mat is above all their size and they are also not very light. In stead it is more convenient to carry an mat with at least an R-value of 3.

Yeap, agree that they are bulky, it is their main disadvantage. Our simple Decathlon Forclaz mats are not that heavy. But definetely would have to try out the pads with higher R-value.
