I'm getting the 7.3 with the 4.30 rear dif in a SuperCab to aide 35" tires (no bigger). Hope the ride doesn't beat me up on logging roads.

Not bad at and definitely not bad mpg with the added towing power of the lower gears thos 10 speeds really changed the game on what a work truck can do

2021 f350 7.3 CCLB with 3.73 gears and get about 14.3 on the hiway and 13.4 running back and forth the work. I looked all over and couldn't find a 4.30 truck, the 3.73 truck does pretty well pulling my 5th wheel.

13.7 is really good averaging 80mph. If you were averaging 65 that'd be 15-16 easy.

I can't figure it out...all stock 2023 7.3 godzilla with 4.30 gears and I can't even get 9 mpg around town. I'm going easy on the throttle, but no luck. Front hubs are not locked in either.

35s doing 80 used to mean low single digits in a gas burner. My tundra manages 6-7 mpg with a heavy trailer. Also, I haven't seen the gear ratios make much of a difference with the 7.3, like you said maybe 1 mpg.

I've got an 07 5.9 dually I'd definitely switch to 4.30 10speed 7.3 gas but my truck still has 80k miles so gonna run it for many years hopefully if it wasn't for the miles I'd definitely go into the gas

@@Icutmetal people who buy these rigs don't care about fuel mileage because they don't get good fuel mileage. they buy them to pull and very few pull at 80mph
@Icutmetal

@@curtis6554 Who are you to say that? The tow police? Sure, big trucks don’t get good mileage; especially with gas engines, and buyers need to have reasonable expectations, but to say that someone shouldn’t care is ridiculous. And why wouldn’t or shouldn’t someone be concerned with fuel mileage at 80mph if that’s the range they regularly drive at? In many parts of the country, especially out west, the speed limit is 80 or 85 and I can assure you I’m not slowing down just because I’ve got a trailer behind me, so long as the conditions and load permit it.

@@Icutmetal if you pull an 8,000 lb, trailer at 80 mph and expect good fuel mileage you're a fool and if you try to defend the rationale behind it, you're a nut that pulls very few loaded trailers.

That kinda sucks. I drive a 2014 F350 6.7 diesel and in the kind of loop that you drove I would have averaged 19mpg. At a slower speed of 65mpg I would expect to get 20 or 21. I was considering trading on one of the 7.3 gas or maybe the 6.8 gas. But not now.

@@Sn0Pro7 But I would like to see how that “Godzilla “ handles my 16,000 pound fifth wheel through the mountains. Don’t get me wrong, I would prefer to own a gas burner but given the current situation, I don’t think the Godzilla would fulfill my needs.

I'm looking for a new truck for my daily driver. I have a hardscape company in Atlanta georgia. My skid steer weighs 11,000 pounds, gooseneck and dump trailer weigh 5,000 pounds. I only haul them 1 day / week or so. Is the 4.30 gear ratio worth it, or would you go 3.73 for mostly daily driving?
@Sn0Pro7
@Sn0Pro7 8 ай бұрын
I'd still go 4.30s. the mpg difference is negligible, especially versus the 3.73 and the extra low end grunt is nice to have

@@Sn0Pro7 especially if I threw bigger tires on in a year or 2, it would make the gearing taller not lower. so with bigger tires it woudl feel more like 3.73
