Farley needs to focus on perfecting there current models and less emphasis on developing retro models that very few people will want. I've been a Ford loyalist for 40 years but I'm also a realist and they currently lead the industry in recalls and lots of them, "Quality isn't job #1"..just sayin' 😵‍💫

What would pique my interest: 1). Bring back the Ford Fusion. I could take or leave a Taurus, but the last Fusion was awesome. 2) Base the Ranchero on the Fusion. Ranchero was always cool because it was a car in the front, and a pickup in the back. Can’t have a Ranchero without an actual car to base it on. If it doesn’t look like a production car up front, it’s just another SUV.

three models i wish they would bring back are the grand torino, and thunderbird, and the l.t.d. i think a modern torino with a retro look would be terrific, the l.t.d could have the luxury car feel and look that i don't think ford carries in it's current models.. i know they brought back the thunderbird once.. i would hope they keep the original 50's body design again.. and if possable i would also hope they could bring back the cougar..

Ranchero......but outfitted as if it was a Caddy. Why can't they make a basic , not electonified unit, a basic unit with crank windows and basic stereo and no electronic nannies. A basic vehicle that emphasizes analog controls and many fewer computers would be a simple, affordable option

With more and more technology going into these vehicles just means less affordability. It's a shame they have not figured out that people need vehicles that are cost effective in this economy.

The lighting looks like just another small pick-up truck. They did not incorporate any design elements to make it stand out as a Ranchero. I love the old Rancheros and I love the idea of a new one, but the new once should look like one.

If you remove the Ford emblems, it looks just like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, or Subaru Baja. I bet that the niche market those and the 1970's cars have already filled the market. There is only a small group of consumers that don't want a pickup truck or sedan, but want both.

If it has a backseat, four doors and a puny open box in the back, don't call it a truck. It's a car that's missing a trunk lid.

I got bets going these will get recalled in 6 months like the Maverick and Broncos did.

If the new Ranchero keeps the same design as past models and not jack the price up with unnecessary technology, Ford won't be able to make enough for demand.

Sounds like Ford coming to its senses. Ford should have continued producing sedans instead of leaving the market to others. It's like a respected journalist from CNN said recently... it went something like this... "electric cars are not tomorrow..but day after tomorrow". The technogy still has a long way to go ...the cost, range, interstructure and other technology besides electric being explored. Just by saying and legislating change doesn't mean the technogy will magically be there . Unfortunately, many of those in leadership and government pushing for these changes (with their SUV's, lemos, mansions and private jets) seem to want everyone else but them to sacrifice in order to make these changes. Not to mention investing in these new technologies expecting a big payoff. Ford seems to have come to their senses and look at these issues in a more practical way. Common sense doesn't seem to be so common.

Will any of these models get a manual option? I know, silly question. Just had ask.

From 1968 to 1972 the Capri was a Ford, European built , the Mercury Capri did not come until 1979, as it was variation on the fox body chassis.

Not a Ford guy. But my brother is and I have respect for the early cars they made. Also for the Mustang. But with the devalued Dollar and higher interest rates, the only solution for mass sales is cars and trucks that are simple. Keep the gadgets minimal. Keep the gasoline and diesel that we have had years to perfect in the vehicles. Keep it simple stupid. 😊

Greetings from oakville Ontario Canada home of the ford plant opened up in 1953 I know that the ford edge is being retired next year and that our plant is being retooled for ev products

And the big truck. I still get heads turning with my 1964 Ford F250. Last night when I was picking up some insulation for my residence I had a group of 5 young men at Lowes oohing and awing over my truck. And I drive a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis LS and again people love the comfort of the spacious interior and large trunk.

Considering the Maverick is based on Focus and already has ICE, Hybrid, and coming EV, how is the Ranchero different? Is it smaller (Fiesta based)? Or larger (similar to Explorer)? Hard to tell.

To be honest, I never heard of the Ranchero before. One of the main complaints with the Big 3 EVs is that their software was very buggy. I haven't heard anything that would improve that. Cutting edge technology just means even more buggy software.

I think the Ranchero should have the new mustang front clip and make the rear end more of a pickup like the ranchero used to be

If they bring back the Taurus, the SHO better make a return. I'm envisioning maybe the 3.5L EcoBoost from the Raptor with options for a 10 speed automatic and a manual transmission. FWD standard and AWD optional.

Nice to see Ford taking a look back. When my son was young I owned a Ranchero and The family grew and i owned a Taurus for a long time. It was a comfortable car, glad there coming back, But what versions will they be and how much.

I’m not holding my breath regarding the Taurus coming back. But if it does return, I’d consider looking at it. As I’ve said for over 5 years, not everyone in the U.S. wants to drive a TRUCK, or something that looks like a toy. My husband and I would really like to see the compact wagon return. Our choices for a wagon are dwindling quickly. Well still buy them as long as we can, but a Taurus wagon, which was produced for years would catch our eye.

Ford would do well to bring back either the F1 pick up truck or the F100 pick up truck. There is a lot to be said for simplicity like rubber floor mats, manual crank up windows and just simplicity itself. I think a pick up truck like that would sell like crazy and yes it would have to be inexpensive

Ford Falcon and Territory here in Australia....The Falcon in particular was in continuous production here from 1960 to 2016... It was a Sedan , coupe for a time , station wagon , ute (utility like the ranchero) cab chassis , panel van .basically six cars in one . There was also Fairlane and LTD that shared close links with the Falcon ...Great car still ..Too bad new versions of the Falcon one day couldn't be re released...

I hate it when they say they are taking back a certain model name. It never looks or does what the original was intended to, usually. I'm from the UK and remember the Capri. I hope they don't change the idea of it too much.

They need a model-t of EVs. Something like an escort hatchback that doesn't have the frills but basic. no infotainment, but have the space if you wanted to add something later you could or a 3rd party could.

I have a Ford Cmax hybrid. 41mpg and never a problem. I love that car.

It's all very well bringing back iconic vehicles yet the ute is only similar to Toyota hilux , New Zealand and Australia had Holden and Ford utes until both companies boned Australia and took money back to head office, then today's quality won't be the same as yesteryear

They all look pretty good especially the Taurus which they should have never stopped making it, we gave a 2011 and my wife lives it. About half way through you was show a Ford and than up pops the interior of a Toyota, what's up with that.

The Ranchero looks just like another regular 4 door pick-up. Ford already has too many pick-up variations that look the same. A Tarus front with a pick-up rear would be more like a true Ranchero. You can buy and bring similar versions from Australia, but they would be right hand drive. How about a Holden Ute SV6 VF or the vehicle Ford already produces, the Falcon Ute EcoLPi. I'd be happy with a Falcon Ranchero.

The Taurus is already being sold in China, so it won't so much be a case of bringing back a nameplate as it will be a case of reintroduction to it's original market. The Everest nameplate is already used on an SUV in Australia. My guess is that this vehicle will continue to be sold outside the North American market. And as a former Capri owner, and owner of several Mustangs, the model shown won't live up to expectations. First, it is a 4 door, but even more, it's styling borders on generic. The only link that I can see to previous models is the appearance (?) of 4 headlights at the front.
