This is part one of my series Ford Duratec 2.0L He Ti-VCT tear down. In this video I begin to tear down a Duratec 2.0. While tearing it down I talk about the parts that are being taken off of the engine and explain their purpose. The parts gone over in this video are the valve cover, PCV system, thermostat, water pump, engine coolant temperature sensor, cylinder head temperature sensor, knock sensors, and the direct injection fuel injection system. This is a great series to watch if you are wanting to become more acquainted with the mechanical inner workings of the Ford Duratec 2.0 HE engine. Enjoy!!
Note: As mentioned in the video some things where missing on this engine. Not all parts, weather present or not, in and on the engine have been gone over in this video.

would definitely be interested in a part 2 & 3. There's some things I want to confirm about these engine that I'll only know by tearing one down but I don't have a spare engine laying around. Thank you for this video!

Is this engine very similar to the 1.6 TI-VCT? I'm looking at buying a C-max with that engine but am hoping to get a good understanding of the engine, ancillaries, where issues can occur and why. Thanks

I’ve not seen any problems with the 1.6 in the Cmax. In my opinion the 1.6 is great for that application. Really the engine doesn’t run half the time so less wear and tear.

Question: Where is the MAP sensor located? And does the ford focus in general have a Barometric Pressure sensor? Located where?

focus 2.0 uses a MAF sensor. Located just after air filter.

Baro is an inferred reading. No BARO sensor.

@@BarboursAutoHelp After reading a lot more, I concur. So the question now is: BAD MAP or BAD MAF? Fuel level input is constant 36.9% (High, I guess) while the fuel / air mix remains between 0.98 and 1.029. Not coils, not plugs (new), when accelerating from low rpm in any gear, "Nothing" happens (like pumping air). Fuel rail pressure changes when applying throttle, but under load, car will only start to accelerate once gearing down. Intake manifold pressure sensor voltage does however read 0.0 V at all times.

@@BarboursAutoHelp Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1 = -10.2 (constant at idle) to -6.2 (highest reading)
