Ford Explorer Suspension Noise stability front

We had the Ford Explorer come in to the garage with a very phantom squeak noise from the front suspension after a brief road trip on some rough roads.
The goal of this video was to really give you some ideas of what you could inspect and rule out by checking areas of the suspension that can make some noise--we never ended up fixing anything as the noise never returned after several rechecks over a period of a month.
We did utilize a penetrant lubricant to spray areas of the suspension , and perhaps that did the trick !
I wanted to express my apologies to many of you as I have not posted vids in some time. I have been working on my car talk show platform for the past year hardcore as well as running a busy garage.

That's funny I thought the same thing. "Hey guys listen to this sound" then blasts music. "Did you hear that"... me "the guitar solo?"

I am having the same issue with these thump squeaky noises coming from my 2016 Expedition xlt . The Mech thinks it’s coming from the brakes. But it isn’t I can hear the sound when I drive slow down the road 10-15 mph. What say you?

I replaced the belt tensioner & the struts/shocks on a 2013 Explorer within the last year. Those didn’t last long….I think. Any time I drive over uneven surface it makes a weird sound. The best way I can describe it would be like if you had a a pot with a lid that’s a little to small on a it and you move it around. 🫢 I sometimes feel like if I drove fast enough over a speed bump the struts/shocks would slip right out😳. Also when explorer is idle there’s “rattling cans” sound all the time. it’s coming from to front passenger side. If I’ve been driving the sound will lessen a tiny bit when I put it in park. 🙏 Any advice? If I need to redo the struts/shocks &/or tensioner, what brand would you recommend? TYA🙏

I have a 2016 Ford Explorer Sport and I get really bad creaking from the from end. When driving, turning the steering wheel and even getting in and out sometimes. What could the issue be?

I have a 2008 explorer and same thing with and without turning the wheel. It a creaking noise ,it just started. Would a bearing do that?

Thanks for the video! I have a unique type of sound and feel.. I have same car but a 2015, I can’t seem to locate a rattle sound and feel in my pedal when I hit bumps.. I’ve had front suspension shocks/strut replaced.. I was also told my ball joints and bearings are fine.. the problem is Ford is telling me they don’t feel or see anything. What do you or anyone else suggest i recommend to be inspected so I can direct them in a specific spot.. just based on your knowledge of this car or SUV etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

TheJustina102085 ~ check control arm bushings on that drivers side ~ we have seen these fail causing a clunk in the area of floor board ~ certainly get a second opinion with another suspension evaluation ~ good luck here !

I had change everything in the front on my 2018 explorer and I still have the same problem not even in the dealer can’t find out is very annoying. Sometimes I just don’t even want to drive it.

Just bought a used 2017 Ford expedition and we also live on a washboard Forest Road. I do hear a slight rattle in our suspension and I’m wondering what the best maintenance is for our suspension. I’m gonna try and tighten the joints and use that lubricant. Wouldn’t mind you guys taking a look at it though, are you guys based out of Arizona?

Always ensure you inspect it often ~ even when no noise present so as to stay on top of things before a failure poses breakdown The Expedition ( I had a 98 with over 200k Miles) are pretty robust . Keep it aligned ( once a year check) and pay particular attention to front control arm bushings and ball joints as they can wear. Otherwise we are tapped in to a nation wide network of great community minded garages ~ if you need a referral just let me know . Have 2014 Ford Explorer - 52K miles. The thumping noise is most noticeable when I go down a dirt road or intermitten bumps. On open highway no noise. What can it be possibly?

Should have took the car down a dirt road like a back alley that has lots of uneven ground that way the suspension really gets a workout and I bet the noise would show itself.

I have a Ford explorer 2011 with 129k miles I replaced everything from front my noise is still there every thing is brand new I couldn't find the problems I am from Connecticut Waterford

Do you need a good garage in that area? This really needs to be inspected --I have garage contacts across the country if it helps you --sorry could not remedy here in the comments-Frank

@@waleedali3724 I got a 03 sport trac same thing, hell I thought it was the hubcaps very loud I replaced all the shocks but did not solve the problem... but what I did is I sprayed it with DW 40 (specialists GEL LUBE) is much better if you take the wheels off so you can see all the JOINTS, RUBBERS, ELBOWS, a lot better there’s a rubber dumper almost right under the radiator that is why is better to take the wheels off so u can see all that is needed to be sprayed, spray heavy. Note the noise went away after a couple of days. I guess the GEL lube has do it magic.😅 it’s been 3 month now and my trac still good. Hope this might help you out. Good luck.

@umair manzoor Exact same thing, 2011 Ford Explorer. I replaced entire strut assembly etc. Turns out the clanking I had was the front end bumper assembly. I cud stand in front of my explorer, grab underneath the bumper like a deadlift weightlifting position, and lift and bounce the underneath of front end. It wud only move a few millimeters but the metal on metal was plenty loud enough. Wasn’t a suspension issue at all, but it certainly showcased itself as I hit bumps in the road. Every mechanic I went to told me I had bad struts. Wasn’t the case.

In 2 wheel drive? Didn’t you just say it was all-wheel drive? No 2- wheel drive on that explorer...🤔

No easy way bud you got to get under that vehicle with a or pipe up each wheel grab, a holt of each shock and use pry bars on on components to see where things may be loose. A test drive ain't gonna tell you where the noise is...hard underneath the vehicle and side of vehicle work. No easy way out bud, may have to get a little dirty and mess up the hair.
