An as simple as I could make it how-to on doing the SEIC high idle control & bypassing the need to engage the parking brake. Figured I would document since I've seen it done, but couldn't find a video or write up about it. Figured it out & wanted to pass the knowledge along to the KZfaq. I posted a second video that shows how to have the Battery Charge Protection (BCP) mode wired in with this as well. Here is a link to that video;

Just used this video to install high idle on my 2016, very informative, made it very simple and only took me a couple of hours all said and done. I really appreciate you making this video and want anyone who reads this to know you can do it exactly the same way on the 2015s and 2016s just don’t get tricked by the white brown wire under thee dash, it looks like white black so I skipped past it for awhile looking for white brown

I didn't realize that Ford had changed their Body Builders site around. I spent some time and found what seemed to be their updated documents. They're not exactly as they used to be but I think the information is still there. I can't change the video but I did update the links in the video description. Thanks for leaving the comment and letting me know the links were not working.

You probably won’t answer seeing how you posted this 7 years ago, but I just tried it on aux3 cause my aux4 is already being used. And my parking brake light is on all the time(with ground connected or not) and it only idles up if the ground isn’t connected. Is this happening because aux3 is a 10amp and aux4 is a 15amp?
@CallMeColtLLC
@CallMeColtLLC 9 ай бұрын
It was a very long time ago when I did this, but I don't know if the upfitter directions have the AUX4 used for a reason. Sounds more like there is an issue with the wiring somewhere, somehow. I still have this in my truck & it is working great. Almost 300,000 miles.

The newer trucks need the physical key in the On position for the switches to have power. You could run your own constant hot wire to the switches, but I'd rather leave it as is to keep from accidentally killing the batteries.

In the way that I show how to do it, yes. I think it can be done without the Upfitter switches but it makes it more complicated. you would need to run your own switch, wires, and substitute your wires for the ones used by the upfitter wires in the diagram that I made.

If it's wired exactly as mine, all it will do is make noise at you that the park break is engaged. Just flip the switch back off & you'll be fine. SEIC won't be enabled unless the vehicle is in park so there's no risk of engine power loss.

Will this work on the new 2017. The only concern is with the Park Brake addition. Under the Park Brake SW (White Violet) circuit in the Q256 Document for MY 17+ SEIC, it states.......- NOTE: The Body Control Module (BCM) park brake input also uses this signal. The BCM park brake input cannot source any current. The body builder must provide a high impedance circuit (such as a Field Effect Transistor) with a 20 kilo-ohm or larger resistor to prevent faulting the Body Control Module. See schematic in the Body Builder Layout Book. We did the mod on a couple of our 17s and it seems to work fine as you state. I posted a link to this video but others are asking/questioning if another transistor is needed like mentioned about. I don't know so thought I would ask. You probably don't have a 17 but if you read through the www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/Q-256.pdf It is very similar to 16 and prior. Any advice woudl be greatly appreciate. jjw ND

Thanks for getting back....like I said, it is working fine. We will just see how it plays out. Really like not having to press the park brake. When we set the idle, it does turn on the park brake light, and if you put the truck into drive, you get a warning that the park brake is on (just the light). Does this all happen with the older trucks also?

Hey man! I'm having a hard time trying to find a 50k potentiometer. Do you think that an interior dimmer switch would work? All the way to the bottom clicks off and then as you dial it up it turns on and gives it more power? Also, i would like to keep the ebrake safety feature in tack, so would I just omit that relay and connection? Thanks! Matt

@CallMeColtLLC 6 жыл бұрын
If you're setup is taken off of the PTO spot on the transmission then you don't have to be in drive for it to give power to your hydraulics, unless you have some other setup that engages in line with the drive shaft. I'm sure if you had to have a high idle in drive there could be a way to flash the computer SEIC program but that would be way above me & personally I'd be worried about messing up other functions.
