I subbed immediately from another vid. This one is 3 yrs old but I'll keep putting this out there as often as possible on every vid. Thank you!!! Super Cool Cat and channel!!! Bought a used fleet vehicle '15 at auction and I'm doing my homework as a long time DIY/backyard mechanic. Ford has really fucked up a formerly reliable brand. GM got a lot of things right with theirs but they aint perfect and absolute theft magnets now for the older reliable ones. Happened to me. Anyone reading this and not stealing any thunder from this guy at all ever!!! FordTechMakuloco is another good guy and channel! Knockoff "Motorcraft" parts are a real problem now for Fords. And some of their OE parts made in Mexico were a prob with my 2000 F 150 before it rotted out in Canada 7+yrs ago. It's just gotten worse since. Repair manuals? I just got a Haynes for this truck via Amazon. Hate supporting them! But manuals are getting hard to find now. Chiltons were always better and far more detailed. But Haynes bought them out a decade(+) ago and the manuals now are identical. The Chiltons are way more $ for the Haynes manual with a different cover. If I lived anywhere near this guy or Makuloco I'd support them with the stuff I can't do myself and have a couple here I trust and do. A lot of stuff you can do yourself with an investment in tools and scraped knuckles. But do it right! And support the guys who help you to any way you can now. They're all being forced out of biz now by the manufacturers and dealers. The bad ones and scammers that's a good thing. The good ones? It aint. One thing Boss does that Makuloco doesn't as far as I know is oil analysis breakdowns with add packages. Bigger deal now even with the 5.0L in mine but the smaller tubo engines it's a bigger deal. Good guy to support!!! 👍👍

I kinda messed up getting jittery explaining things, still sleepy. Just make sure when you make selections you're in neutral and give it time to release or actuate Nd don't just immediately drive off also after engagement sometimes you may have to pull forward and back a hair to get a complete release or apply

I have a 2021 F150 3.5tt Platinum (if that matters but can’t imagine it does) and this tryck has different drive modes that select four wheel drive based on your mode. The Sport mode puts the truck in 4A but this makes me nervous because it is a 4wd mode. What is 4A and should I manually put it back into 2H to avoid the 4wd on dry pavement issues? So much is new on the 2021, and I just moved from an ‘03 with 279K, and I want to treat it right.

@@eb3898 4A avoids the 4wd on pavement issues, it's closer to AWD than 4x4, it's fine to use at all times, all surfaces, but if you don't need it, turn it off. Also the '21 model year changed from vacuum IWEs to i think electromagnet operated IWEs.

I used 4wd to get out of wet grass, so I wouldn't tear up my yard. When I got into my driveway, I shifted to 2wd, because I know you're not supposed to use it on dry pavement. My 2019 F150 told me it was in 2wd. I even waited for light to go out before I turned out of my driveway. While I was turning the steering wheel didn't wanna turn. Then all of the sudden, a massive clank and the truck jolted forward. What could've I possibly torn up? And why did my truck say it was in 2wd when it obviously wasn't?
@FordBossMe
@FordBossMe 2 жыл бұрын
Everything is probably okay you just should have waited longer in order to go into 2-wheel drive I know that doesn't sound right and you shouldn't have to wait but that's the facts it's always nice to shift to neutral if you can before you put it into 2-wheel drive and then sometimes it'll tell you put it in Drive pull forward to it can engage properly you don't always have so do that but again these are the facts
@klausb1758

@@FordBossMe Wow, that's crazy. I guess it's a totally different beast than my 2017 Tacoma. I don't have to wait and can go off road like crazy with it. It doesn't grind at all when I turn. Ford grinds when I turn, and I'm not even turning sharp. So, sounds like to me 4WD in Fords are for emergencies, and 4WD in Tacomas are for fun.

From the sounds of the video you need to put it in neutral with no or really light break then select 2wd and wait a second for it before then going into drive. Ive had plenty of hard shifts in my ford, i assumed because the easy little switch for 4wd to 2wd that it was all basically instant and didnt need neutral, now i know why it shifted hard...

Hey bro. I have a 2016 f150 fx4. When I shift into 4x4 I hear a loud whirring sound kinda sounds like something spinning around metal Mabey? I’m not sure, when I tried to put it back into 2wd it took like a minute for it to go back into 2wd from 4, do you have any idea what that could be?

Check and make sure the vacuum lines to the front hub actuators are You'll need to run a vacuum check from both actuator lines and if that checks out I would change the vacuum solenoid on the firewall and the check valve Open hood Looking at the engine bay back of the motor driver side you will see a check valve and solenoid They go bad at times an it's common

My 2016 f150 4x4 makes a ratcheting sound when in 4hi on snowy pavement when I turn. I replaced the IWES and the noise continues .I have owned many ford 4x4 vehicles and never noticed this noise before in 4 hi only jerking when hard turning sharp and no ratcheting noises. I dissagree with you on the noise something is slipping on these new systems causing this noise . sounds like the IWEs clicking out of place because the engagement area on the hub is so narrow its slips off in turns.

@@FordBossMe I agree with you about how to engage and disengage the system I just noticed that if these newer systems are used on snowy pavement in 4 hi they make noise when going around turns . The older part time systems didnt they just jerked the wheel and turned hard these systems are releasing somewhere and I would say its between the IWE and Hub teeth on sharp turns which is causing the damage on the teeth area Is to narrow and it slips out on sharp turns you can hear it happen even when brand new.
