@@topcan5600 The flow depends on what size chokes are in the carbs. Thats the wonderful thing about those that you can easy change the cfm and jetting. I would guess its flowing around 750-850 depending on the rpm range the engine was built for.

Very nice...I built a K code engine years ago that had 11.5:1 compression with the heads reworked to take the chevy 1.90 intake valves, running weber carbs with the Ford LeMans cam and hooker headers...sounded similar. Mine pulled 360 BHP on the dyno on race gas...I would swag yours is closer to 400.

Big bore, short stroke is the beginning of a recipe for high RPM and POWER!! In the 60s I had a Fairlane with a 289/2 barrel. In the early 1970s, car manufacturers were detuning their engines for emissions and improvements in mpg. After you reversed a detuned engine, you had an engine that was born to run. In the 1970s, I modified a 455 in my '73 Toronado, a 390 in my '72 Ford pickup and a 460 in my '77 Mark V. Ahhh yes ! The good ol' days of push you back in your seat torque.

Question on the "Forged Crank". I contacted SCAT and EAGLE about 5 yrs ago asking about such an animal. They said one does exist in their offerings. I then asked about a custom crank, and was told that they do no make any cranks with less than a 3" stroke. So has this changed or did you get a Forged 302 (3.00" Stroke) crank and have it destroked down to a 289 (2.87" Stroke)? Thanks, Ron

Hi - loved the video - just wondering what cam you used? Also compression 11.8:1? Just trying to learn this stuff as planning my first build. If higher compression does this require different octane fuel? Am looking at same heads and just want to make sure I match these with the right other components. Thanks for posting a fantastic video. Cheers Jerry

I'm assuming you've already built your engine but yes, the higher the static compression ratio (volume of cylinder at bottom center : volume of cylinder at top dead center) the higher the octane rating you'll need. Now I'm curious, DID you build your motor and how did it turn out?
