The LPI Barra made 3kw more than the petrol variant. LPG is a fantastic fuel and really underrated.

When fuel prices shot up again I bought an LPG falcon. I get around 600km for $70 which is way better than what I was getting on my old petrol car. Its a shame LPG is dying down

Petrol now 1.69 for petrol. LPG is 85c. FG EcoLpi uses the German ZF6HP26. Love my EcoLpi. EcoLpi Max torque and power also comes on quicker (lower RPM).

I bought the first FG LPG ute new back in 2008 and I was very impressed at the beginning especially due to the lack of driver fatigue on long country drives and the handling was better than any car I had previously, it felt like it was on rails on the bends in the snowy mountains. As you guys noticed they are great around town with good acceleration. Later on I realised that I wasn’t getting very good economy around town where I used it most of the time, about 350km out of a tank but the Ford dealer told that it was normal for the type of driving that I was doing and like a fool I believed him since I did actually get 580km out of a tank on highway trip one time when it was serviced the day before. Years later I spoke to someone who had one doing the same type of town driving as myself who was getting 450km out of a tank mine was out of warranty by this time. By 2018 the economy was a bit worse until I took it to an LPG expert to do the ten yearly tank inspection. When I picked it up I noticed straight away that it had heaps more power and was looking like getting 450km out of a tank as well. I went back to the LPG guy to ask him what he did but he said he hadn’t found any fault. Unfortunately this miraculous fix only lasted a few days. I later discovered that if I reset the computer by disconnecting the battery terminals it would be fine again for another few days. Then I took it to a Ford dealer who didn’t have a clue because they don’t even employ LPG licensed mechanics, they just send them off to the nearest independent LPG expert. Now here’s the problem with owning an LPG vehicle, there aren’t enough Licensed LPG mechanics to choose from. I have one who’s just a five minute walk from me who couldn’t even select the correct battery for my car and I thought he was a bit dim before I discovered that. The next closest one is the REPCO guy who charged me about twice the verbally quoted price to inspect my tanks. There are two others who are good but both are too far away with no decent public transport near by, one of them knows of the same problem in another customers Ford and was able to tell me up front that he still doesn’t know what the problem is. As carer I didn’t have time for endless trips back and fourth to distant mechanics so in 2019 with only 150000km I traded it in much sooner than I would have liked to for an ISUZU Dmax as I want to move to the country eventually anyway where LPG is not always easy to get and the Dmax has a range of about 1000km on the open road. These LPG Falcons are not that complicated which was one of the things that attracted me to it in the first place and the manufacturer should have the resources to back up the products that they sell. I am now one of a growing number of people who will never ever consider buying a new Ford and I make a point of telling as many people as I can about this when talking about cars. If I knew back then what I know now I would have bought the petrol version, never let Ford mechanic near it and hang on to it for twenty years.

I love my 09 G6E LPG. It’s done over 210k and is reliable and still get 12l/100k (I mainly do long runs) Rear suspension is not quiet but it just goes! Acceleration on the hiway is good. Love it.

I reckon a lot of Australians don't realise what a great motor Ford Australia made. 20 percent cleaner than petrol, more torque and lasts forever. I've got two brand new 2016 FGX lpgi utes stashed away in the backyard.

Had the AU 1 ton ute with the LPG generation green barra motor for 10 years . Was unkillable except for a faulty spark plug leads

Its funny because the e gas Barra's have a tag somewhere in the cab telling you to expect it to crank longer before it starts.

The Ecolpi is far far superior then the older troublesome E gas system in every possible way.

My falcon bf factory gas is great. 900km until empty and it's powerful and reliable .

Need to test an eco lpi it has basically the same kws and torque as the petrol and the same 6spd gearbox

Thought the FG LPG had liquid injection and blew any petrol Barra off the map. We have ba sedan and bf ute both green rocker covers (LPG donks) both with the good old and slower mixers 'tween the exhaust manifold and the offside strut. LPG is 118 octane usually my comment is 110 octane to avoid a 'stupid' debating the statement. I did a video a few years ago of a 0-100 in my LPG G6E, approx 8.6 seconds. My G6E had about 270,000km on it I think at the time. Used the GPS speedo from my dashcam to record the time.

Well actually the conrod in the LPG Barra is not the same as the Turbo Barra but it is chunkier than the petrol motor.

The FG E-Gas has 375NM of torque, the later FG Eco Lpi gas has 410NM.

When you say "thats not the case today", are you saying that an LPG falcon is more expensive than standard petrol?

The FG petrol 6 cylinder had 195 kw and I'm pretty sure that the lpg had more power again

Gday I own a 2006 bf ford ute I have spent $7,000 on it from new running gear new brake lines ect to much to list here, tho my point is I love my barra ute she is fast reliable factory gas(converter is band new as well) after 325,000ks gas barra is the best.

The LPG barra is the preferred block for making big turbocharged performance. You guys have no idea do you!

L.P.G can be a very temperamental. The dedicated lpg vehicles are a lot better than duel fuel, but saying that newer cars could be a little different with the direct injection, and you should have a primer button or flick the key a couple of times before starting and a very regular gas tune!! And u mentioned the bottom end, going back to the el-ef models and nearly everyone of them got cracked heads from lack of water but taxi's and a few others out there came with the tickford head for hardened internals for the gas an the lack of liquid drying out and cracking the inside... But I'm sure I heard many year's ago that Ford have used motors (since the 1 off XF 2 door all wheel drive turbo) that come out the factory built that can have a turbo with 8-9 PSI bolted straight on?

only at the 2:30 mark 0-60 times can be done with "car scanner pro" and Bluetooth obd2 / elm327 adaptor off eBay , my time was (2.24 0-40)(4.03 0-60 )(5.99 0-80)(8.67 0-100)(11.96 0-120), i tried shifting manually and my times were slower , fg g6 stock dedicated gas

No mechanic but ive got 2010 bf factory gas. It pulls well. No xr6 but seems most of the 194 is there. Does take while to chop down then pulls it keeps goin. Not a fast barra but smooth in like it. Thanx

Only slightly less than the petrol you say but what your forgetting or don’t know is the FG Barra responds very well to premium octane and puts out up to 209 kw with a commensurate increase in torque into the early 400’s, if you read the Ford manual even this suggests the increase or go to any Ford forum on this subject you will get this advice, I have ran my FG XR6 on premium since day one when new the other benefits. Include clean injectors and less carbon build up than if you ran the car on the shitty, crappy 91 sewerage

Love my ute 2009 R6 LPG. Only thing I find is I think its thirsty around the city driving it gives me 22 to 23ltrs per 100kms. Highway around 16/100kms. Does anyone have the same issue? Sounds like the EcoLpi is more fuel friendly.

Change at 4500rpm because the rpm will actually closer to 5000rpm by the time ya shift.

i think you just have a shitty car because the lpg version is by far the most reliable and slightly more powerful, they also come stock with the bottom halve of the xr6 turbo, so you can push 30psi of boost with minor upgrades like headstuds, valve springs and oil pump gears because they like to shatter
