My focus mk2 2011 tdci is doing the exact same thing. Got towed to garage last week and got it back 4 days ago, lasted couple of days before it done same thing with not starting. Garage sorted fuel filter and pump. I'm on the verge of just getting rid if can't figure out what's wrong.

Throw a way a car just for the fuel pump? That`s odd...for me at least. Nice videos mate, keep them coming!

Nice diagnostics on the fuel pump Rob and a shame that another car is going to hit the dust. At least folks know what the fuel pressure should be from looking at your vehicle. Have a great weekend and don't work too hard!

Since this is a 1.6 Focus... Is it even possible to fix the low idle on these? I had to put a nut on the thing that stops the throttle body when it's fully closed. Otherwise it stalled 10/10 times with the AC on and dropped below 700 without the AC. IAC valve and throttle body are all clean, got good power once I get going, just no idle.

Tank drop for one of these I believe. You can't buy experience, nice diagnosis. MK1 focus, fantastic cars.

I was going to say check the pump for angry pixies, but what little pressure it created faded away pretty much instantly so probably not a dodgy connection.

"Facial like Eric says" that cracked me up. And the filter is backwards, darn DIY'ers. (ha ha) Well you tried, and like you said it may be a good parts car. Always a thumbs up buddy!

Still really interesting, even though you didn't get a chance to put in a new pump. Does the MK1 have a dedicated primer then? Only my MK3 has to have a vacuum pump fitted to draw the fuel through. Great video by the way.

Good man. Please oh please tell me whats causing the rough idle of these focuses. Doesnt matter if its got MAF or MAP. Fuel pressure OK. O2 sensor perfect. Vacuums - all checked 5 times - not even a tiny leak. Coil and leads like new. Spark plugs - dual platinum new, perfect. Idle control valve - everything is tip-top. No error codes for months. And still - that rough idle when approaching a junction and go to neutral and rev drop and its nearly to cut-out but never does. When i stop idle is still rough, but if i leave it - it slowly goes up /the revs, like to nearly 800) and it starts running smooth. If i blip the throttle - the same again: rough idle (~700rpm nearly every time) and engine shakes until left to settle for a minute or two to idle and then it smooths slowly again. Checked the adaptation map - the low revs area, like 700-1000 is very rich, like up to +15-+18%. After that the rest is maybe ok. if this was my car I would drop a new pump in it and it would be fixt but not every one know how to do that. I wonder how the hardware on the tank straps look that would be a concern of mine getting them off with out them breaking

Hiya bud mk2 focus. When we try to revers it cuts out an also cuts out when you have pulled of an put it into second gear any ideas please

I did not see the rest of the car but it sure looked like saving. A complete set of suspension arms in the rear cost almost nothing other then time.

Is it possible with the fuel filter fitted wrong way around causing the fuel pump to fail completely?

I have a 2000 ford focus it will start then die down it's not the battery I'm not sure why it keeps stalling out

I'd be tempted to buy that focus, get a new pump and just cut the floor pan around the fuel pump inside the car and do it that way. Did it before on a 1998 Fiesta. It'll run again and the dreaded stuck bolts in the petrol tank etc won't be a problem.

Odd that it's possible to put the filter on backwards. Great way to back flush it all. LOL

Is it normal for de needle to drop? I tested my pomp its going over the 4 bar but drops after a minute or 3

In my country i can buy a new fuel pump not genuine ofcourse, for 20$. Ant it will work just fine.
