Ford Focus MK2.5 (2008-2011) Stereo Removal

This is a tutorial on how to remove the stereo from a Ford Focus Mk2.5 (Euro Spec) which was build between 2008 till 2011.
This model features the oval shaped stereo, this instance is a DAB radio.
I talk a bit about the MusiConnect lead that I will be fitting into my car, to enable my Parrot kit to play music through the stereo amplifier, enabling me to have better sound quality from my Parrot MKi9200

I Just used combinations of 1-2-3 stacked up store cards on a 2009 focus style. Worked a treat!

Hi There Trystanb, Most of the ST's come with the Aux in the glove box, if its not there, all the wires for it will be there, but it will just be missing the actual connection in the glovebox. All the connectors will be on the back of the stereo's quadlock too, so if you change stereo's everything will work still.

Hi JS, I followed youur blog to replace my front brake discs and pads - many thanks! I need some advice on how to remove the main door window switch panel since an led stopped working under one switch - any ideas? Does it "pop" off somehow?

I've got a ford focus with a radio just like yours, but without DAB, I just saw on amazon some really huge and cool kenwood radios with GPS/DAB/USB/MP3/DVD, pretty much everything, what do I have to check to see if it's compatible with the ford focus ?

Hey!, a friend of mine passed me the after market stereo (double din, dvd, etc) its working fine, BUT!, i've lost the steering wheel function and aux function, so my question is do you know the cable color of the steering wheel functions?, because its suppose to remain those functions but I don't have the instructions :/

Nice vid! Question though: Do you know if the 05-07 ST's come with the aux in the glovebox? I had the 08 facelifted version but now downgrading. If not then this vid will come in handy as I've always used my iPod/Phone in the car.. Cheers

James I have a focus zetec 2008. The radio is the standard silver 6000cd. I was going to fit the IS3200 parrot kit do you know if this would be a straight fit or would I need a adapter loom? Thanks

Hi Nick, unfortunately the creators of the lead never got back to me about supplying these - which is a bit gutting as I know the product well and know would love to sell them as I cannot reccomend them enough. They can be found on eBay though if you search for musiconnect leads. As for the calls, yes the stereo goes into "Phone" mode when a call comes through, you just have to make sure you connect the mute lead.

You can get them from Ford, or even on eBay. These are rather hard to fit, as they have a complete new antenna assembly - The stereo takes two inputs, one for FM/AM/MW and another for the DAB side. As for removal/fitting of the stereo, these can all be found on my website jamessimpson.co.uk

That's for the quick guide, I'm just about to fit a wwwDOTeononDOTcom/Car-GPS/Specific-Car-GPS/Ford/D5162.html stereo model 5162 with GPS and Australian maps. I have also purchased the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as well as the TV tuner which is supposed to be good for 230kms. I suspect I will only fit the stereo first and do the rest when I have time in about a month maybe.

Hey nice one, it helped me yank mine out without breaking any clip mountings ;P I have a question; what is the third button you have in the lower dash? I have noticed the wires are there in min, however i have only the two window heater buttons in the middle.??

Hi Kasper, You mean the button next to the heated front and rear windows? this is to turn the traction control on/off on a Focus ST

Arh okay right, I'm just asking because when i had removed the frontpanel I was looking under the button array of mine, and there is prepared for a switch. i.e. there's two wires in the plug and all, just the button switch is missing. so I wondered what the difference was.
