Thats what I was looking for! The EGR of my EU5 Transit form 2013 looks the same! So that clip was very helpful!

The radiator fan can be removed for more space to work in. It pulls right up, lover tabs holds it in. bend them out a bit and lift the hole fan shroud. Unplug the 2 wire pugs and lay the wire harness to the side.

I’m just after reporting those comments 🤷🏼‍♂️ These egr’s seem to be a very regular thing for sticking/seizing. The motor is very easy to remove ( make sure to bring up the bottom part too ) well worth a look for any running issue. Thanks Paddy 🙏👍

hey guys great vid, im gonna give this a bash tomorrow as im sure ive done exactly what you described and snapped the little magnet off the inner erg motor head connection whilst replacing the glow plugs, if i did that would in normally result in the van not starting and just keep turning over?

Hi Billy, I have found on several occasions that if an EGR valve gets stuck open it will stop the engine from starting. So yes it could do that 🤞🤞

If I replace it at home, do I need to tell the computer that a new one is fitted or will it work it out on its own? Good video by the way👌

If you wanted to be comprehensive, clearing faults & EGR relearn would be great but just fitting it is enough and the van will relearn over a drive cycle. So yes go for it Ray 💪💪

Is this the gasoline engine? And is it the same as the diesel engine?

My one is the 2.0 diesel engine. I cannot remember the engine code but it is a very popular engine in the Transit Custom

Can I re-use the gaskets? The egr valve I have just ordered does not come with new gaskets

Yes, I usually would. They are steel and should be in good order 😉👍👍

Thanks, replaced following your video. I do now have since though engine management light and traction control light. Will that just clear through a relearn?

I’m assuming that you had engine management & traction control light illuminated before you replaced the egr valve. General traction control or abs fault appear due to engine related faults. They might go out over a drive cycle or 2 (from cold to hot) but if not you might need to erase faults in all modules with a scantool

Great info. I was told to do the EGR ahead of a suspected head gasket replacement as the engine management and traction control lights were showing which won't show if head gasket is issue. Don't have the diagnostic tools to relearn the system, will it still work on replacement without the reset?

I do not like that you are dragging the old egr valve on the plastic body part of the vehicle scratching it all over like the hole vehicle would be already a scrap.If it is your own car it would be fine but other than that it's a no no no.

No plastic parts were scratched during the recording of this video, apologies if you thought they were 😔
