Rear half shaft is leaking this can cause a number of issues you can Completely lose all your differential oil which will cause it to seize and cause you most probably to crash
Also if it gets on your brakes you will not have any breaks and you WI knew all also probably crush

A good tip is to put loctite super glue on the pitted holes of the mating surface and get a very small flat block of steel wrap it around with a very fine grit of wet sand paper and flat off the dried super glue to get a very flat smooth surface for an effective seal . Agree with you Leon, no one would agree to spend extra money on their cars doing extra little jobs that would save money in future. I clean every little nut and bolt on my cars and cover them in grease or spray paint them to prevent corrosion in future but those little jobs take lots and lots of extra time. If you're keeping the car it's well worth it though.

Really good job. You are correct, only fix what’s broken. You can open a can of worms and end up getting stuck where you can’t go on with the job and you can’t go back either cos something has broken. The more cars you fix the more you realise if it’s not broken leave it.

I have bought parts in Ireland and boy do they charge and most of them you have to wait they say a couple of days what they really should say is 2 weeks so now before going to Ireland I make sure my car is all ok well thats the plan some times it does not work that way but thankfully I have friends who will lend me their car ,nice work on the cleaning up and good Job and thanks for the video

It was a few months ago I priced up a set of seals for the rear of a Transit Ford were ridiculously expensive I purchased a kit off of eBay for about 75 quid which works perfectly

Why on earth have they designed the seal that way? Why on earth haven't they stuck with a traditional style shaft seal and the hub retained by standard nut 🤷

Ford had a history of loosing axleshafts with a pressed on bearing retainer on the axle that could slide off (one came off in front of me on a Falcon in a group A race in 1987) Many other diffs have clips on the inboard inside the diff. However the weight is still on the axleshaft. This system is so much stronger, allowing for fast road use when fully loaded.

@@andrewthompsonuk1 this is on a light goods vehicle work van. It's not going racing and not even having fast road use. Transits up to this model don't have a history of axleshafts falling out...

@@wurlyone4685 Transit vans can be some of the fastest vehicles on the road in the UK. The heavy duty RWD vans carry over a ton payload.
