Palmetto State Armory, stated that they are going to soon release this German replica. It might have some problems that are quite foreseeable due to PSA‘s history. Other things that they have released have been subpar on their initial run. Would we expect problems perhaps? Would we expect certain things to not go the right way? should we expect them not even to release a full product? What about the historical significance of this and how people really wouldn’t want it if it’s way overpriced. We go over some scenarios in this video and I give you my thoughts.

My biggest worry is the price. 1500 is expensive but can be manageable When you start getting above 2k and especially close or past 3k that is a hard pill for a lot of people to swallow. That is likely gonna be the determining factor of how well it sells Gen 1 teething problems happen but those can be solved and they are required by law to have a warranty. So that isn’t a big worry. It should be fairly close historically considering that they got this from hmg I believe and they had done a lot to make it fairly accurate. With that said it is hard to make a modern semi auto copy perfectly accurate to a select fire ww2 machine gun that was made during the downturn portion of Germany. It will likely be close enough that many people will like it because it is the only way to easily get one that is close to the original in operation and feel without the rarity and expense of a real one. (Yes I know about the .22 ones however those just copy the look, operationally it is completely different and thus not really accurate)

The HRA guns are made with Nodak Spud tooling, who have been making retro AR parts for a long time, that is why they are so good. HRA would have just as much of a clue how to make a STG-44 as PSA or HMG, which is probably not great.

If you or anyone else wants to own an AR 15 that shoots the 7.92x33 Kurz I do build them for sale with all the other models of AR 15 and AR 10 uppers I sell. The cartridge cycles just fine through the AR 15 using 7.62x39 curved mags and the same bolt used for 450 Bushmaster, or 458 So-Com works for 7.92x33 Kurz. The barrels I use are from Pac Nor using the SS super match barrels. The 7.92x33 Kurz is right between the 300 BLK and a 7.62x39 in power.

The stampings aren’t perfect and I do wish that HMG didn’t focus on adding modularity to it, but they bit off more than they can chew and can’t deny it was one hell of an undertaking. Palmetto bought them out and are using the hand they were dealt. PSA isn’t aiming to make 1:1 replicas for collectors. Their objective is to get as many guns into the hands of law abiding people. So a 2500 Palmetto STG, in 5.56 or 7.62, is likely to sell more than a PTR STG44 clone that is chambered in an obsolete, hard to find, caliber. What I suspect is the Palmetto STG will come out. I respect that it was quite an endeavor, but what I hated about HMG was the lack of transparency.

@DireAvenger001 4 ай бұрын
@@chewcacachewpipi8879 because the market for a 7.92x33 kurz, 1:1 scale, STG44 is a slimmer market. An STG in more common calibers is going to have a much broader market, while still retaining some of the collector’s market. @DireAvenger001
@DireAvenger001 4 ай бұрын
@@chewcacachewpipi8879 People tend to take for granted the average fixed cost of these products. The reason why AR15s are so affordable now is because the tooling has paid off itself by now. Same for Soviet era AK tooling. When you require a 10 million dollar setup to crank out rifles, the average fixed cost, if you sell 10,000 will be 1000 per rifle. Sell 10,000,000 and that will become 1 per rifle. The more PSA can make and sell, the more affordable it becomes for the end user

You could say that, this rifle is the same rifle made by HMG which was designed to be a rifle thats as close as possible to the original stg44 but one that is a practical firearm to own for the average shooter with some modernization implemented such as a barrel nut for changing barrels for calibre conversion given 7.92x33kurz isnt exactly common anymore, charging handle/bolt catch, suppressor compatible, optics compatible, & uses an hk trigger pack due to original trigger internals basically being an overly complex jig saw puzzle. It's not 100% authentic but it's still heavily based off of the original stg44, still has the same action internally, & being customization friendly it is very ideal for shooters who like to mod their weapons as much as possible. I wouldn't really compare this to the gsg mp40 given it really doesnt use the same internal action/mechanisms all that much at all it's just a cheap mp40 look alike, this psa stg 44 should be a little more promising, though given they keep any of their promises, the hmg stg44 was promised 7 years ago, its long overdue for it to get released & i have much more confident in psa to do it than hmg. For those that want an authentic stg44, DKProductions is the way to go, but theirs will cost quite a bit more & will be a while before their rifles truly hit market, as of end of last year their priority was building all their mp40s they want to sell which are also authentic replicas as well.

@@alexsurber3424 Idk, I think if someone wants a "practical firearm", using a design from 1940 ain't it. I get that somefirearms like the 1911 or the 50 cal machinegun are still in use, but that's mainly because their category of firearms haven't evolved at the same rate as assault rifles have, which have changed a lot over the last few decades to easilu accomodate optics, have more compact magaizines, be lighter weight, quicker to reload, and be chambered in calibers that are commonly used. The STG 44 fails or at the very least is subpar in all those categories compared to say a nice ar15, FN scar, modernized AK etc.
@alexsurber3424
@alexsurber3424 4 ай бұрын
@@hk4lyfe59 There is merit to what you're saying, but like the ar-15 & ak, it too the stg-44 can receive all the R&D poured into those rifles but all at once in this case as opposed to over the time frame of 50 years, the stg is an older design but its not drastically different to its assault rifle descendents that came out just a little over a decade later, like certain modern rifles it is capable of being more while still retaining key characteristics. An example of this idea but in terms of motorcycles a good example would be BMWs modern cafe bikes which are extremely similar to their classics from back in the day but modernized enough for todays standards while still being very retro, a brand new motorcycle that comes in the image of the old. The stg-44 is a candidate imo for such modernization but still being close enough to the classic stg-44, for me personally im more interested in the platform, not an exact carbon copy of a WWII rifle, but maybe that's just me, i would dream of owning a GT40 kit car for instance that is basically the original rolling chasis & features identical bodywork of the original, but one customized to my liking.

May be similar problem to the FG-42's manufactured a decade or so ago by SMG. Beautifully done semi-auto replicas, excellent reviews.... but more than $3k. Smg is still producing fg’s, but the PSA stg isn’t even remotely in the same class. The smg fgs are insanely accurate replicas, but they’re also $7500 I think. As a collector that always strives to find original condition rifles when it comes to milsurp stuff, I don’t mind that this is pretty different than an original. The fact that it is new means it could never be an original no matter what. Even if it was exact, it will always be a re-pop. That being said, I think it’s awesome and I’d love to have one just for the fun of shooting it. And even though gen.1 guns almost always have problems, I wouldn’t mind having one of the first off the line just for the low serial number. I wouldn’t be surprised if 10 years from now these aren’t even still in production. Once production stops, everyone will finally want one, lol. 30 years from now folks will be saying,”why didn’t I get one of those when they were ‘cheap’ and available?”. Haha, heck I dunno. I have a picture of a genuine Nazi STG 44 that was taken at the museum at West Point Military Academy, NY. Picture was taken summer 1980 or 1981. Taken by my Grandfather...who was a retired Army Officer. I was with him when he took the picture and the STG 44 is in a section of West Point's museum labled assault rifles (intermediate rifle cartridge is what assault rifle means to me). The Sturmgeyer rifle was made to be shot either semi auto or fully automatic. I think the idea PSA has is great, however the logistics of it is hard. Mainly its about ammo. Who manufactures ammo in that vintage intermediate caliber? Imagine how expensive the ammo would be...even for someone with lots of money. And spare parts...who manufactures reliable spare parts for the STG 44? That being said, I hope PSA is successful in bringing the STG 44 to the American market. The cartridge is a necked down Mauser bullet... powerful.

So they want to make a reproduction of a historical firearm that's not really a reproduction using short cuts and modern plastics, of an original gun that is now long obsolete being twelve pounds and firing a cartridge equal to a .30 carbine fired from a five pound gun , a cartridge that almost no one makes today, with no option for full auto fire , which was the reason the original gun made sense in the first place. The chances of wide production of the STG-44 died in May of 1945. When the allies seized all the tooling and did not immediately begin mass production the rifle was dead. Everything now is that has been planned to bring these rifles back is just cheap halfway copies. Let the rifle rest in peace....

Make 10 Chevys to every Cadillac and sell the Chevys and make $200 per car. Sell a Cadillac and make $700 profit. $2000 profit better than a $700 profit and more people have their products to show off at the range or gun stores. PSA better figure it out.

Dietrich out of Germany about 10 years ago was able to make a high quality semi-auto reproduction of the STG-44 in 7.92x33. It was very expensive like 5k and very few of them was imported into the country but it looks exactly like the real thing unlike the PSA and they are very reliable according to the few people who own them. Dietrich is setting up shop in Kentucky but their reproductions are still very expensive. Just because HMG and PSA have yet to make one doesn't mean someone else hasn't.

They should just make it in 9mm. A simple blowback 9mm STG 44 would be easy to produce, fun and affordable to shoot. I know the STG 44 was never in 9mm but it was never in 7.62x39 or 5.56 either. I think what HMG & now PSA are discovering is that the STG44 is a much more complicated weapon to produce than what they thought it would be. Remember the semiauto PTR-44 that came out of Germany in the early 2000's was $4500.

I hate people like you who love to complain about others "complaining" while complaining yourself. Don't like the video buttercup, close it out. Your dad must have skipped out on you or something since you can't handle someone else's opinions or he just did a poor job of raising a man.

Personally I agree wholeheartedly on the accuracy issue, I would never purchase a reproduction STG-44, unless it was accurate to the original 90%+. Even then, I wouldn't purchase it if it costs more than $2K. There is just so many better options for PSA to make and produce, that would be more popular. List of Examples: * M14/M1A or an M1 Grand (I would buy) * FAL variants * G3/CETME * MP5 (Doubt at this point) * AR-180 * AK-107/ Counterbalanced AK * Draco Krink (Might come out in 2024) * Type 56 Chinese AK (They kinda {Soviet Arms} produce these) * SVD Clone * PSL Clone * G43 Reproduction * SVT40 Reproduction * SKS line (AK mag SKS?) {Good for Canadians} * Cheap semi auto shotgun line (They could make a reliable Benelli Clone, or make their own designs) * Auto 5 clone * Model 12 Clone * S&W M29 revolver Copy * 2011/1911 type pistol (They could probably purchase RIA, tbh) it would be far easier for them to produce those and get popularity and accuracy with these designs that already have a market and can be produced cheaper than the STG in most cases.
