Forest Master 7 Ton Heavy Duty Log Splitter - One Handed Operation Hack.
A short clip in reply to a question asked on my Channel as to how we made the Forest Master Log Splitter operational with only one hand and not two hands. WARNING. Following my Method will probably break every Health & Safety Rule Under the Sun. So YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS.

“For a man who is lost, the three greatest dangers in order of importance, are Fear, Cold, and Hunger. He may endure extreme hunger for a week, and extreme cold for a day, but extreme fear may undo him in an hour. There is no way of guarding against this greatest danger except by assuring him that he is fortified against the other two.” Ernest Thompson Seton.

I hope that this will not come across as a ‘Poor Me’ request, I have reached and surpassed my first goal of reaching 1000 Subscribers, (thank you), but I still do not have enough viewed hours to receive any form of Monetisation from KZfaq. My next aim is to reach 5000 Subscribers. I’m no spring chicken, and as a British Army Veteran on a small Army Pension, as you might imagine, I’m on a tight budget for the equipment used and displayed in my videos which doesn’t include the behind the scenes Camera equipment and the average two days of my time it takes per video for my old brain to get to the final upload stage. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy entertaining you guys and girls if and when I can and it would be FANTASTIC IF YOU the viewer could support me by watching my videos to the end, even IF you just let it play without actually watching all of it and most importantly, Giving the Video a LIKE (Thumbs Up), Subscribing and Ringing that Bell for notification of all for future uploads. This is the only way the KZfaq algorithm thingy will pick-up on my content and promote it. If you think my content is shite as you are fully entitled to do then, scroll on by as there is nothing I can do about that except die which is not a part of my immediate plans. Your positive feedback via comments, your likes and subscriptions are the only motivation for creating new content for you the viewer. Please feel free to make comments on our video content, good or bad; let us know what you want to see more or less of, we will try to give you what you wish to see as long as it is a subject we enjoy covering. At some stage in the nearest future, I may well ask folk to voluntarily donate a £1 or a $1 for a beer and/or to be used for supporting the channel.

I've swapped out the standard sprung loaded switch to a positive on/off switch enabling me to operate the lever control with one hand which is more precise and slightly safer. 👍🏼

Sounds like a Good Hack, but how is it safer in your opinion?

The ram stops faster. With your method when you release the "button" the motor continues to spin for just a split second or so allowing the ram to continue its travel. It's a tiny difference I know. But what works for me may not be suitable for everyone, just thought I'd share my take on your idea, no offence intended 😊

@@duke5889 I wasn't offended in the slightest, just interested and sharing is learning. Many Thanks for your comments, most appreciated.

Plus side it saves you the surge on your Electric from the start of the motor!

What a great/simple idea, why didn't I think of it years ago!!! Thank you.

Very handy gadget, especially with the 'hands free' system! Was surprised how easy it makes things happen, when I tried it myself.

Mass Mess When are you coming back to split some more firewood? I can pay you in sticks. LOL.

Instead of the wire, use a 6 inch ratcheting bar clamp/spreader from Harbor Freight. This clamp will hold the starter button in and keep the electric motor running. This also Eliminates the surge on your electric current. Then use the handle to move the splitter ram.

I see you have the same size wood for all your splits. Use a vise grip to stop the ram from going through its full cycle back to the starting point.

@@teddypilny9404 I don't always have the same size rounds and restricting the cycle from returning backwards, it doesn't like at all. The best way to cut short the run is to place something at the far end, but you also then lose your sharp edge. Touch wood, this machine is still doing me proud with all the same hacks in December 2021 as it did when I made this film. Have to clean, grease and tighten a few bolts now and again, but overall, very pleased with it, but there again, except for Manual Labour, I have nothing else to compare it with,

Wouldn't you just put it round the wheel? Can move around then
@RobertsBulgaria
@RobertsBulgaria Жыл бұрын
Not quite sure now after 4 years of what you mean. I see this guy's foot is inside of the wheel, but I never use it like that, I always have the wire and pipe outside to the left of the wheel and it allows me full control like the accelerator pedal on automobile insofar as, pressure down sends the splitting tool forwards and releasing the pressure by lifting your foot on to your heel, allows it to come back as required.
@purelytm374

I mean put the wire around the wheel to keep the lever pressed down all the time without needing your foot?
@RobertsBulgaria
@RobertsBulgaria Жыл бұрын
@@purelytm374 Then how would the splitter return? The correct UK Health & Safety method is one hand held down to send the splitting head forwards and to release it so that it returns again or, like a dead man's handle, take your hand off the lever, the splitter returns - all we did was wire that handle so it can be operated with a foot albeit, you can still do it by hand with the wire affixed. I need two free hands for some of the large rounds I split.
