You’re a real inspiration! Love your channel! I’m an auto mechanic and was once a car stereo installer. I feel compelled to tell you something to ensure your safety: you need to move that fuse for your diesel heater as close to the positive battery terminal as possible. The way you have it now, if that positive cable wears through between the battery and the fuse and comes in contact with the frame, you will have a fire.

Just a safety tip for that 12v wiring you did. The fuse should be at the battery, no more than 12" away from the source rather than back at the equipment. The fuse can only protect the circuit from what is connected after it. The wiring between the battery and the fuse is vulnerable to short possibly melt or catch fire before that fuse.
@geraldhenrickson74723 жыл бұрын
Every point before the fuse is vulnerable to a short with no protection. Why not a fuse holder at the terminal?
@chrisi92653 жыл бұрын
@@geraldhenrickson7472 That would technically be best practice, and vehicle manufacturers do that on many vehicles for factory connections. For most aftermarket installations the terminal isn't replaced the due to things such as costs of the parts, spacing around the battery and terminal, and retention of existing equipment tied to the battery.

So cool to see the work you're doing on you van. Looking forward to the finished product when you get done 😊 love it, I'm working on my 2nd van too. My 1st van's transmission went out, and for the same cost of a new transmission and labor costs, I got me another van, 5 yrs newer and with a topper that is already been with it since it's been manufactured, nearly and rust, almost still like new, old a few minor touching up in a few small areas inside since I took out all the old original carpeting, and cleaned all the old glue and gunk off the floor and walls, put new insulation in, and been working on the subfloor too, before I start the walls, new door panels on the cargo and barn doors, remodeling the topper too as I go along. It's taking me a bit longer for 3 reasons, one I also caregive for my elderly dad, 2-3 is timing and money, when I get my paycheck I can get more supplies needed to continue the work on my van and I'm doing the physical work myself to without any outside help in the midst. That's ok, though I can't wait to get this all done, at least I'm able to take the time to make sure each time I work on the van, it'll be done good too. Take care Forrest and be safe too. God bless. I'm also always watching Chrome's vids too. It fun to watch y'all, gives me helpful inspired ideas to mix with my own as I work on my van too.🤗💖

I have a 200 ah battery that isn’t pulling enough from the solar panels right now with the snow so I was using an ac-dc charger. I have a couple spots around town where I can plug in for free but I obviously don’t want to draw a lot of attention. Basically I’m just running the cord as inconspicuously as possible.

You're a good father to that lithium battery. A comfy bed and warm heating vents to make it comfortable.

When you install the drawer fronts don't forget to allow for the thickness of your flooring that you put on top of the plywood if your still doing that. Love your vids!

Stoked for you m8 And put metal thumbtacks on the drawer rails,makes the drawers slide way easier

Fisher Kieds In a van, the trick is to PREVENT drawers from sliding out easily! The minor inconvenience of grippy drawers is worth not having your stuff fly out as you change direction or hit a bump.

Don't put that pipe on the "other heating vent" Forest! It's the intake port for the air which gets heated up by the heater and then pumped out into the vehicle. There should be at least a few inches clearance around that intake, and restricting the airflow into that port will cause problems with the heater,
@forestyforest3 жыл бұрын
It wont be a snug airtight fit onto the vent. I will leave some space so that it is catching the warm air. I think it should be ok. Also in the summer i can blow cold air onto the battery! Works year round.

3:19 I can relate to this. This absolutely sucks. I love how he optimistically tries to spin in hope to come loose when it’s no chance in hell.😣
