Its not about the wielder it's about the quality of the blade itself, these guys are experts in the field and know what they're talking about, a blade's performance is not dependent on the age of the wielder, a good blade is a good blade regardless

@@LaLloronaVT "Experts in the field" there's many sub-catagories to many of these fields, which these guys aren't amazing at. But stuff like hitting the metal stand is just idiotic.

He might have went through and hit the stand but he went through a small chunk of the skull still left on the stand... he didn't just swing at the stand. Plus it was the handle that sent the guy home anyway not the blade itself.

The part the skull was sitting on was wood. The back part of the frame was metal but the part the skull was directly sitting on was in fact wood.

the guy on the strength test was hitting the metal bracket thing which was holding the skull which caused the chips to the blades

Actually it needs to be a functioning weapon. If you can't control it that well cause the handle is digging into your hand its not functioning...

But even Doug contained bout a small handle and control issues. He's also a martial artist who prolly can compensate for a wonky handle, while the other judge is a master bladesmith who's gonna judge the sword from that pov.

Test 1: does WAY better than the other. Test 2: does so well that the horse skull is destroyed in fewer number of swings...so the judge hits the metal stand instead. Result: Loses. What a joke.

Comfort is a huge deal when you are swing a sword with full force if it feels out of control in your hand that's a very big deal.

That part was wood. The back part of the brace is metal but the platform the skull sits on is wood. You can CLEARLY see the wood where it was cut in the previous strikes. I don't see how people are so blind they can't see wood.

No. A sword should never hurt the user gloves or not. In any case, he had gaping in the peices of the hilt, and the weapon wasn't as well balanced.

I understand the strength rest isn't what the blade does to the object but what the object does to the blade but...they might want to make both a consideration.
