Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell warns Australians should forget about the possibility of a rate cut coming this year after the monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) indicator rose to 3.6 per cent.
“If you are thinking about a rate cut I really am starting to think more 2025,” Mr Clennell said.
“Treasury are optimistic in their forecast, as the Treasurer needs them to be I think.”

Labor re-indexed Fuel, Alcohol and Tobacco taxes - which feed directly into increasing the cost of living. ALL Labor's doing.

Who would have thought supercharged house prices would feed into inflation? Who would have thought that deploying all the capital into pushing up existing house prices would feed into inflation? Well I did! But I'm not on the RBA board, or in government, so I cant do anything about it.

Just returned from thailand and no inflation, prices have hardly moved since 2019. AUD is up 20% since 2019, so a lot more "boom boom" for my buck.

Record high levels of immigration is inflationary. Gov has not been serious about tackling inflation. It's what they want. Less small businesses and a swelling public sector.

When inflation was lower than expected, Albanese crowed it was all down to his policies. Will he now say the higher than expected inflation rate is his fault. No. And the press gallery shield will blame the previous government.
