In this video I am forging a straight razor form 5160 leaf spring and acid etching it to give it a dark overall look. Thank you so much for the support on my past videos I know I haven't uploaded for a while but I am working on a big project, stay tuned for that. Feel free to tell me what I did wrong and what I could improve on in the comments.

The work is good but the blade is to thin for the width. The spine should be thick enough to make an 8° angle when the edge is on the stone. This is to aid with the occassional rehone over its lifespsn and the frequent stropping needed to keep it shaving sharp

Thanks and that’s really cool, I didn’t know razors had used there spine as a guide. Ok definitely do that next time.

@@nwforge2333 all good. Traditional measurements are in 8ths. 8/8=1 inch or approx 25mm,which is a very wide blade. At 8/8 the spine should be about 1/4 inch(i work in metric but sometimes imperial is so much easier)

Hi, I noticed in this video your gas forge is making that same annoying noise as mine. Any ideas what's causing it. Enjoying what you do by the way.

I think the noise Is caused by the air being sucked into the burner inconsistently.

Came out really nice. Great work. I'd love to try a straight razor, but I'd probably decapitate myself.

Trey Grubbs thanks I recommend you try to make one it’s quite simple just don’t try saving with it while working on it.

Is it working well? I've heard somewhere that the blade is supposed to be toothed like a saw. Great video, I enjoyed it very much.

Nikola Matić the razor does work I used it couple times and it works well at shaving and I use it as a normal knife too. Thanks for the support
