30 years ago I broke the tip on my Dads favorite knife while skinning out a deer. By 17 I had done this a half dozen times, but this time, I broke the thin blade, just wasn't careful. He didn't give me much grief even though it was his favorite knife. 30 years later, having made my own forge and anvil, my son and I decided to make him a knife worthy of him, as thanks for all he has taught me. We made it from a leaf spring, made in the early 70's. It turned out pretty nice I think, hope you guys enjoy seeing the process in getting there. If you have any questions, hit me up on my Ginsboy2003 facebook page.

I'd like to congratulate your son. The young man seems to have developed attention to detail and patience. Qualities his father might want to work on. We know when our kids are more mature when we see in them qualities we need to work on. Congratulations on raising what seems to me to be a young man headed in the right direction.

What a great father/son project. That old spring looked tough, lots of hard work. Appreciate your videos,

nicely done Gins....your Dad should really like it. breaking the point off a hunting knife to me means it was improperly tempered and had excessive hardness. when stressed, it broke rather then bending and returning to true.

You forgot to strike it with a file to test hardness. Good job. Your son did an awesome job on the sheath. How much to cover a motorcycle seat pan I made??
@ginsboy2003

I did test it with a file, just didn't film it. Also tempered in the oven at 400 for an hour and a half, can't remember if I mentioned that or not. I don't know what he would charge haha!

hey Man love your channel. I can see you turned your burner into a forced air one, does it work better this way? what happened
@ginsboy2003
@ginsboy2003 7 жыл бұрын
It just seemed to choke itself out. It wasn't a problem adding the forced air to it and it works a LOT faster now.

Hi Ginsboy, I have been a sub for a while now. I started watching with your Zastava m77 box opening video, as I was looking at getting one myself. Fast forward, I just found several of your videos under the channel of kzfaq.info/love/W8pilz_n8epzLgIO8ZJyjw, under Lonnie Hughes. I doubt this is you, so might want to look into that. Anyway, love the vids, keep up the good work!

Thanks again for the heads up about that guy. Turns out he downloaded then uploaded over 100 of my videos. Looks like youtube deleted the channel. Don't understand why people will do that stuff never expecting to get caught, thanks again! You can also hit me up on my facebook page.

Holy crap. No problem. I guess it is for views on their channel. He will probably just make a new account and do it again, if not to you then someone else. I don't have fb anymore, just wasn't going on there, but I might have to check it out. Glad they sent that guy packing.

Nice video and knife but does your Son("My Boy") speak? No disrespect, but he comes across as being forced to make the video.

He's very shy. When I asked him if he thought we should make the video for my dad he thought it was a great idea. I had to remind him it was his idea and he at least needed to smile haha!
