You bring us along for an unboxing, attempt to assemble the unit without the instructions, bungle the assembly, modify parts that don't fit and run the blower backwards, You broadcast it all to your subs and then shame us for making negative comments. Maybe you should take some of the blame for making the unit look so bad.

Cedar G I am going to agree AND disagree at the same time. The product is what it is, and for the buyer needing to modify it to work properly is unacceptable (in my opinion of course). But in regards of the negativity, I don't think Wranglerstar is to blame for that one bit. There will always be some people who will find something to complain about, that's what happens when people have opinions. On that same not, shaming your viewers, telling them can't and will never do anything good, is both ignorant and just as judgmental as the negative comments he gets. So I do feel this particular video was full of hypocrisy, and still a good demonstration of how the product works. So in short, good and bad video I guess.
@cedarg9874

I don't think he did the seller any favours by trying to put it together without the instructions regardless of how talented he thinks he is. To shame his subs the way he did was arrogant and uncalled for. I know he has trolls who badger him, but that comes with the territory he needs to learn to ignore them. Thanks for your comment.

Cedar G Really you are going to fault Cody for making a video that is true to the product? A Video that is true to what someone who ordered this would experience when they open it? This channel is as unbiased and unpolished as it gets that is what makes it real. He shows the good and the bad about it because that is what wranglerstar does and that is why the majority of the people watch the channel.

Mr. Wranglerstar, I did it!!! I could not afford to buy a whitlox forge. but you and whitlox inspired me to build my own from scrap materials!!!! I used nothing but an angle grinder, welder, 1/3hp drill press with no drill vice, bench vice, chanel locks, and scrap materials... except for the Kaowool ceramic blanket that I had to buy new. so thank you for inspiring me to do something I have wanted to do for years. It is not pretty unless your me hahaha. but I will be assembling my video shortly on my version of the whitlox wood forge. I have talked to the whitlox family and will promote their forge in my video so people who can't or won't fabricate one, can buy this awesome tool!!! thank you brother for all the inspiration to just go do it and let the mistakes happen. I love metal because you can put it back!!

wonderfulmax It is important to provide an opposing viewpoint in consideration of the manufacturer. mdbigman It is a great design and idea. However, the truth is, it is expensive at over $600 for this setup and could be made much more cheaply by someone with basic skills, wanting a wood/charcoal forge. Not hate, just the truth. Supporting local businesses is great, but so is DIY. Peace

Hi Cody.. I love your sarcasm, digs at the metric system; I am from Australia so the metric system is well engrained but I was brought up by my father (a fitter and turner in railway workshops) working in feet and inches and I get a warm fuzzy feeling anytime I get to break out the imperial socket set. I am jealous of your lifestyle and I have had an interest in Blacksmithing for years but I live in a suburb that doesn’t even allow a fire pit in the back yard. Keep up the great work, the entertaining videos and ignore nah Sayers.

Australia is really hot, fires end up costing a lot in infrastructure damage/loss of lives etc, that's the plain and simple. Certain times of the year you can have fire, though this is in WA maybe its different in your state. Love, fellow Australian.

Proper? For years now you have been teaching us and showing us The importance of doing things correctly, properly, and to the highest quality. you have shown us amazing work done by true craftsman including YOURSELF . Everything done to the tightest tolerances. so please Mr. wranglerstar excuse me for questioning your judgment on this Forge. This Forge that is obviously not built to any where near the quality that you have taught us to live by. Mr. wranglerstar I have always considered your opinion with the highest regards ! As weird as it may sound I feel like I gave a friend my opinion ....

@Pgood790 9 жыл бұрын
I feel like putting my hands on it is irrelevant.I know what dryer duct feels like and I can see what it looks like with oversized hose clamps and duct tape holding it on. I know what bolts look like when they are too long. I'm sure you remember a wile back You showed how you aligned the slots of flat head screws so they all would match. I smiled because I had never met someone that was so detail oriented as myself. I do that too. Proper. The small angle iron legs and needless to say the cross brace miscalculations etc . The large gap in quality differences from the stuff you normally show us is where my judgment is coming from. Rogue hoes, Stihl , Adams boots, benchmade , old Stanley , Honda engines.. On and on all the amazing axes and knives perfectly executed. You have shared with us amazing quality items . You have also shown us items which to steer clear of due to lack of quality or usability. Fiskars comes to mind which I have never owned because of your opinion of them. Dreadful fiskars. They can cut down a tree and chop but nothing like your high Quality grand force brooks. I hope you can understand at least a little bit where my opinion is coming from.

I have watched an old time blacksmith use ni thing but small sticks to run his forge in a pinch. He said you want to keep the wood about the thickness of your thumb. His theory was the faster the wood burns the more energy (heat) it would release. He just used sticks picked up in the yard. Thank you for taking us with you on your journeys.

I am sorry to hear that people have a hard time with the forge. As it turned out, I had been holding on to a large brake drum for a few years to make into a forge. I even bought an identical, used, "Bufco" blower as yours to rebuild for myself. Then, just when I pulled out the brake drum to start fabricating, I learned that other shapes work better in forges. Coincidentally, your first Whitlox video came out and I was STUNNED! "YES!", I said to myself. THAT is how it is done! But, working on a tight budget, I will try to build my own version of a "VEE" forge. Thank you Whitlox!! (I like yours better though!)

This is the first video of yours I believe I've seen, and before I even finish the video I'd just like to say how much I loved how you shut those people down in the first minute alone. It was a gift to hear, and it's good to know that someone is willing to say what everyone's been thinking.

I appreciate your videos! It's amazing to me that people can watch your videos and then criticise you for them. I don't think people understand that this is a choice you have made to share your experiences with us. Even if some things are done in an alternative way or may not be as effective or efficient it was your choice to do it the way you did. Thank you for sharing all of your experiences with us and I hope that more people value your work as I do.

I would say a thoughtfully well executed idea, that appears to be very quality built, and obviously from the proof of your first vid of it in action, works extremely well!! Nice job on a great video and a very well done "first peek". Thank you again!

Thank you for doing this video I've been looking at this forge for my knife shop so I can quit using so much map gas. I think it's a great design and would be hard to improve on for an open top Forge. Thank you again for making this video it only serve to further my conviction on buying that Forge for my business.

In no way am I dissing your forge, it IS an amazing execution of thought, design and execution. I just wanted to say the underside sounds like a great place to keep a cup of coffee warm on a cold day in the shop. A small shelf down there to hold a mug might be a modification idea for the winter. Forging on a 104 degree day... THAT'S dedication to viewers. Thank you. I really wanted to see the forge in action.

Very cool. Wish I had a nice big workshop to get something like this set up in. I made an aluminum/copper smelting furnace that could be used as a forge though. Took a clay chimney flue, stuck it into the ground, and ran a ventilation pipe beneath it that was hooked up to a hair blower.
