I have been trying to buy this 1972 Corvette since the day that I saw it, FIVE YEARS AGO. As long as I have known about the car it has been sitting in a field with the hood off of it. The day finally came that the owner was willing to sell, so I decided that it would be worth a video documenting the moment I thought would never come!
If interested in a TheCorvetteBen KZfaq Channel window decal, please send $5 through PayPal to Benjamin.friend56@yahoo.com. If you are international, please contact me first about price!

Whenever I see stuff like this, I always think to myself, “ man this was once someones pride and joy, all for it to be left to rot in a field” :(

Persistence pays off. One of the great mysteries I'll never solve is how people are attached enough to a car to refuse to sell for whatever reason, but not willing to take 2 minutes to move the hood back over the engine. Weird.

That's what's so infuriating about American Pickers. The owners are really nothing but hoarders that are fine with watching the car rot away and won't accept a reasonable offer from someone willing to restore it.

Hoarding is a devastating mental illness. Dealing with someone letting a million dollars worth of automotive Americana errode into the ground is far more often the rule than the exception. It can creep into an otherwise stable persons life with such ease. But by the grace of a loving God go I....

Life happens and sometimes the car represents better times to the owner. He may not seem to care for it but has a deep connection with it. I have a 67 Firebird that was my first car. It sat neglected for 20 years during some dark times in our lives. Eventually my sons took an interest and we’re enjoying the car once more.

@@junkorbust9498 Fair point. But, I see a difference between motivation to put something on the road again and a simple, single effort to cover the engine. Almost as easy as rolling up the windows.

The wife and I just piled a 79 that was sitting for 20 years and 109 thousand miles. Igor that thing fired up but the carb was crap put a new one and had just the left front brake and was doing burn outs in the driveway. 😎 Thanks

The poor cow came over to say goodbye. I'd like to know how many loose marbles have to be rattling around in a persons head to let any Corvette sit in a field and rot like this one. Luckily you spotted it and never gave up on trying to buy it. These are beautiful cars and I know you'll do a great job reviving it. I hope you got it for a good price. I hope you'll share future videos as you bring it back to life. I'm a Corvette nut myself and hate to see people let them get to this point.

Texas cars parked in a field do rust, I bought a 77 Chevelle sedan for parts a few years ago out of Mineral Wells, and it had sat in a field for 10 years with the windows down, nothing survived that was inside and the floors were completely gone, but the exterior sheet metal was great!

Some people, especially farmers, like to hang on to everything and never let go until they die or the family puts them away. In my younger days I would work part time helping setup estate auctions and farms would have everything the owner ever bought squirreled away or if they no longer thought it was any good left in junk piles somewhere on the property. I remember on farmer had every car or truck he ever bought tucked somewhere on the farm. The story was if the vehicle broke down he would go buy another and let the old one sit and use it to store stuff in. Opened the trunk on a 1955 Oldsmobile and found blasting cord and blasting caps. After that we went a little more slowly digging the stuff out of the old cars.
