Do you remember a very early one called "Alexander," about an older man who moves into a house and becomes friends with the kids around, and they paint the house all different colors? Then I think he's committed to a psychiatric facility, and the end is the house being repainted white. Still upsets me.

It also aired in 1983 as an episode of ABC's Afterschool Specials. So the reference to 1983 isn't wrong. According to IMDb, it was originally produced for the Afterschool Special series, but debuted in a different series in 1981.

Funny thing about Please Don't Hit Me, Mommy was that it didn't debut after school on a weekday like most specials did. It was shown at 7pm on a Sunday Night. I actually remember watching it. It freaked me out as a kid because up until that point in my life my parents never hit me. That would change a couple years later in 1983 after I turned ten when my father hit me for calling my mother the B word.

I can't believe you didn't notice that the boy with Patty Duke was her son Sean Astin, I kept waiting for you to mention him. Oh and thanks for not making a big deal over Scott Baio being in one with the anti drugs message. Though I don't think it deserved a higher score then the one with Patty Duke her son and Nancy McKeon, who was my main reason for watching The Facts Of Life. I think the message about not beating your kids was even more important, since the drugs one was focusing a lot on weed, which is the least dangerous drug, even back then!

Then HBO use to play it on a constant loop thru out the early to mid '80s. Before rediscovering it on KZfaq, the last time I saw it was in the early '90s, on 16mm film, in high school, during "drug awareness week" some nonsense like that! It was actually written and directed by John Hertzfeld who made the film 15 Mins with Robert De Niro, Two Days in the Valley with James Spader and Shade with Sylvester Stallone who he had been friends with since the early 1970s.

I saw Mom's having baby and a sequel around here... The childbirth sequence was edited out of the first one because of the "guidelines of this application". Definitely recognized Dana Plato because she was going thru her own baby experience. I saw "stoned" a few months back. That was a good one."Please don't hit me" is a little too close to home. I don't remember the other ones much. Something about Amelia, I remember that one too..I remember the sponsors more: Kellogg's, General Foods, M&M/Mars, and the big one: McD's.

I starred in a couple of those on ABC, back when ABC was an incredible network without the influence of Disney. 🤔
