Well Derek, this is my thought. Being this truck looks like a smaller version of you're big square body you just finished. You and Bentley should do the engine & tranny swap. Then you could put Little Grip Garage on the doors. I think that would be so cool to have those two truck in your shop. Also in the future you & your son can go on power tours together with them.

Hey there Derek just want to let you know that you made the last months of my Dad's life v much easier to go through. He was sent home on hospice in August of last year and while he was in the hospital he discovered your show. And he just love you and how you could just make anything work. He's always tell me "that oh boy they're can take a carriage and turn it into a Cadillac." I made him up a playlist of all your shows and he would always just constantly be watching your show while he was awake. the last few weeks of his life he didn't really stay awake very much but, when he was he was watching your show. The night before he passed away he came a life like it was nothing wrong with him, and he and I sat and watched the episode about Betty White. Shortly after it was over he went back to sleep and never woke up again but you were the last thing in the world that he gave a damn about on television and that means a lot to me and you will always hold a special place in my heart. God bless you brother and have a wonderful day thank you so very much for all that you did to help my Dad's life little bit better towards the end.

Everything happens for a reason Derek. The engine swap has even been started for you; it would be rude not to keep it going. It does mean you still need a parts truck, or a box at least, but that rig's way too nice to break for parts. You asked Bentley and he had no doubts: no point in asking if you're not going to listen to him.😂

As a channel fan from up north of the 49th, my vote is that you keep the rig together and make it run again. I'd like to further suggest a theme for it - since it was built in Canada, how about turning it into the Can-Am Friendship Rig? The Maple Leaf and Star look damn good together! Cheers from your neighbours and friends on this side of the border!

Wow! What a beautiful truck! When you started washing the crud off, I was impressed! KEEP IT! Don't strip it! And with high gas prices these days, there ain't a thang wrong with keeping and rebuilding that straight six. They are rare these days and great work trucks! And sometimes us cheaper folks really appreciate a standard rebuild, not everything has to be a hot rod!

Couldn't agree more. Those 250's weren't called sewing machines for nothin. Simple, reliable, easy to repair and they still have good aftermarket support. You can put an updated 4 barrel manifold on it and run 650CFM on it. It'll breath a little easier and be pretty torquey for what it is. Now if he really want to go fancy, he could get a sniper efi and that thing would start no matter what the temperature, weather, etc... And the a simple header on with a glass pack. Perfection. I think the KISS method is best here though. I'd pull the head, see if it and the block are ok and go from there. BUT, I'd definitely upgrade it to a 4 barrel no matter what. What a nice truck.

Love the truck! I think it’s too nice to have it as a parts truck, definitely make a build out of it, but I’m gonna go against the grain here and say rebuild the 250 I6, nobody’s ever done that on KZfaq I think. Maybe give it to one of the boys once they’re older or keep it as a farm truck

Great idea. If not that please at least open up the 250 for us to see if there was simply a head gasket failure, or something more serious going on.

I would love to have that. Virtually untouched, a very good foundation for a restro mod for car shows. Those are hard to come by, you usually find them rusted to hell down to the frame.

Since the 'Maro is a goner, and so's this motor, it'd behoove us all to see you merge the two! Then, once it's all running, the interior makeover you did on the blue one would bear repeating! Love this channel!

I love seeing your son wanting to be involved wrenching on cars. I love watching his Little Grip Garage channel. He reminds me of me when I was his age. My dad worked a full time job at RCA in Dunmore, PA in the 70's and 80's and would work on cars at night in our small 2 car garage. Of course, I had to be there with him, soaking up every bit of knowledge I could get. He also had a Briggs and Stratton dealership so we also worked on power equipment. I learned so much from him. He passed away in 2007 at 61 and I inherited all of his tools and shop equipment. Every time I do some wrenching, I can't help but think of him and everything he taught me.

Just a sidenote for anyone reading, when you call an Uber and you're far away from town and the driver had to come a long distance to get you, be sure to tip really well. Basically that time and gas money he's using to get you is a break even at best, so that guy really did you a favor! That's time he could have been earning more money with other rides. But about the truck, fix it at is! No need for an engine swap. If it ends up being only a head gasket that's bad, that's a cheap and easy fix!

Cool straight truck, I would recommend ditching the six for a small blox, say 305, freshen the carb, intake, iginition and sparkalators, restore the A/C , basic dual exhaust, change the transmission fluid, it might come back around, address the brakes, maybe swap a donor brake booster and master cylinder, budget shop truck for parts runs, replace the back bumper from a donor truck with a trailer hitch, light duty car hauler too... Good luck hope to see a follow up, fun show as always.....

Daryl; My suggestion is to repair the truck, then use it, since the condition of the body warrants a decent repair job, so, I agree with you. It's too good to use as a parts donor. I really enjoy your channel even after several years of watching. KEEP UP THE ENTERTAINING PRESENTATIONS. Al

I'd rebuild the inline 6, and add a non integrated head.. they make performance parts for it too.. everyone is doing LS, and old school small block swaps, the 6 is a sweet little motor, and is different. The makings of a good daily driver, and gets good gas mileage too 😉

I agree. Pop the top off the inline to see if any cracks then make the decision weather to swap a V8. It's two wheel drive, should make decent fuel mileage either way.

I have an 81 C10 that had the 250 in it. It was gutless. Rated at 100hp new. Mine was a manual- I can't imagine how much worse it would be with an auto. It was very reliable. 400k miles before it died, then swapped a 350/th350 and never looked back. I don't think a guy who likes big blocks and blowers would be happy with that ol straight 6

She's a keeper! Judging by the condition of the body & box, she was loved on for most of her life. Also, it's hard to beat on them when there's only a six in the power barn. I'm betting you'll find a lot underneath that's still in good shape, like bushings, bearings, etc.
