I love what Sharon Tate’s mother said to Tex, one of the murderers who killed her daughter, at his parol meeting. She asked him if the victims get parole. If the victims get to come out of their graves and walk the earth. It was emotional to watch. These people were extremely disturbed. They not only murdered, they mutilated and butchered these people at two different homes. LaBianca’s son found him. My heart goes out to the victims not these people who came out in song during their sentence. They are not right in the head. You can’t fix that.

Ironically, Tex Watson was the first (if not the only) of the whole group to express genuine remorse over the killings. He's also claimed most of the responsibility, which is likely accurate.

Leslie Van Houten entered the home of Leno & Rosemary LaBianca on August 10, 1969- after Charles Manson had broken into their home & tied the couple up. She placed a pillowcase over Mrs. LaBianca's head & tied it with a lamp cord. She held Mrs. LaBianca down so Patricia Krenwinkel could stab her. When the knife bent stabbing Mrs. LaBianca in the collar bone, Ms. Van Houten got Tex Watson to come help stab her. Ms. Van Houten then stabbed Mrs. LaBianca in the lower back sixteen times. Rosemary LaBianca was stabbed a total of 41 times. Words were then written in blood on two walls & a refrigerator door. Ms. Van Houten then took a shower, stole one of Rosemary LaBianca's dresses to wear, a leather purse, wiped the house of fingerprints, and ate cheese and drank chocolate milk from the victim's refrigerator. Before leaving, she patted their dogs on the head and left their bodies to be discovered the following evening by Rosemary's son and daughter.

What type of life does this woman face out of jail? She could conceivably miss the security (3 meals a day and a bed) of prison. Hard for even a 73 year old person with a clean record to find work that can support one. And elderly typically need Social Security and Medicare. Has she been paying into that system and therefore eligible for those benefits? Perhaps she has "fans" on the outside that will take care of her.

i agree. The idea that she's a genetic monster like Manson, Ted Bundy or Jeff Dahmer is ridiculous. A lot of these posters here who want her to die in prison would have been happy to see her executed right after her conviction like in an old Western movie. Without the notoriety of the Manson family and admittedly her not showing remorse during her trial (that remorse came later) she would have been released years ago.

I think judgement belongs in God's hands, not ours. Not one person can say that if it was them, their actions would be different because none of us were there. Manson gave them acid daily. While on acid they were absolutely brain washed. Did Sadie deserve to be out? Absolutely not. She spent her time in prison saying she lied. She did nothing. She never accepted responsibility for her actions. Charlie never accepted responsibility for what he did. Leslie has been remorseful for over 40 years. She has accepted responsibility for her actions. So many say this was the worst crime in American history. It's bad yes. Not the worst. I think the children being trafficked right now is a bigger issue. Do we really want to bicker and condemn a woman who was drugged, used for sex, likely scared of what would happen to her if she didn't comply? Or should we come together and stop crimes happening everyday to our children. Can't we just make the world a better safer place?

There were a lot of people that came to Charlie before the murders and realized he and his followers were way off. He wasn’t just brain washing anyone and they would comply. His followers were just as sick as he was. They stole from Leslie’s Father twice. I agree that Charlie tested them to see how far they would go but they all were right there ready to murder over a really stupid plan to rule the world. Leslie held down Mrs. Labianca and after Tex and the other one, I can’t remember her name, stabbed her. Leslie stabbed her in the back like 20 times. It is unclear if she was already dead or dying at that point. I do think she is rehabilitated but it took a long time. It is unfair to compare this crime to other horrendous things going on in the world. The fact is the Manson murders were horrendous and terrifying and brought an end to the hippy era. They had to release Leslie because they ran out of reasons to keep her incarcerated. I doubt very seriously she will offend again but I doubt this gives the victims family any peace.
