They always use "the knew of" people to create a bs story like the memphis 3. People just need to be more considerate and caring of others in general.not so quick to judge or point a finger and place blame. Its getting old news outlets maybe start looking at the mental health care and what little they provide or do. That system for sure sucks

The thing is there are tons of awkward teenagers who need guidance and support and this is going to further alienate them. "That weirdo in our class is going to be a mass shooter, let's treat them like garbage." Then it's a self fulfilling prophecy. The people who treated them bad get to just go: "See, I told you so." when they have a nonviolent breakdown.

She is describing what every school, classroom & town has in it. Here in San Diego I drive by people on a daily who would fit a, "weirdo profile"...let's remember, saying or acting weird, being withdrawn, being shy or misunderstood is one thing...to ACT on such with violence is another. It's the bystander effect. *"The Kitty Genovese Case is the most famous example of the bystander effect. The Kitty Genovese incident took place in the Kew Gardens, Queens, New York. A girl named Catherine Genovese was walking to her home after work at 3:15 am on 13 March 1964. A heavy machine operator named Winston Moseley stabbed the Genovese, she collapsed and screamed for help, several neighbours residing in the building heard her voice but nobody came for her help. Reportedly, one man looked from his window and shouted at the Moseley to stay away from the girl. This scared the man for a while, and he left."* *"The Genovese was crawling across the road to her apartment but nobody helped her in that situation. According to the witnesses, Moseley came back after around 10 minutes, stabbed Genovese and then raped her. He also stole her cash and then fled. This whole incident took place in around 30 minutes. This news was published on the front of The New York Times, it was mentioned that around 37 People saw the incident but nobody came for help. When the culprit was asked that why he committed that crime, he said that he just wanted to kill any woman that day, and when bystanders were asked that why they didn’t help the girl, they said that they didn’t want to get involved in the situation, and they assumed that someone else would help the girl."*

I think it's good for people to share after situations like these. Maybe it can help in the future. Maybe it can't help in the future. We will all never know unless we all start serious discussion after a tragic event like this. If we can prevent 1 event then it was all worth it. @@21stcenturystrengthethos47 I have no issue with raising awareness of suicide, I fully support that. My point is, making it harder to access guns, and certain types of guns is a much more effective way to prevent mass shootings compared to trying to figure out if every kid that acts awkward, withdrawn and anti social is going to be a potential mass shooter, because the vast majority of kids that act awkward, withdrawn and anti social do not commit mass shootings... however, the easy access to guns makes it easy for those who are prone to commit mass shootings to carry them out. No one says you can't tackle mental health, social issues etc. and we should, but that's not a replacement for common sense gun laws... look at every developed country in the world, they have lots of people with mental health issues, but they don't have nearly the level of gun deaths that we do, so the common denominator is pretty clear.

Those signs were there since he was a young boy and went on for years as his classmate attested to. There is no way in hell as a parent I would allow this young man to get possession of a firearm. He needed counseling not weapons. This family is almost as guilty, and they will now be paying the price for their irresponsibility. Imagine the scorn and guilt these people will have to endure for the rest of their lives and rightfully so. So many of these tragedies could have been prevented if close family members did not ignore the warning signs and took steps to get the help these people needed. On the other end some people are just pure evil and can never be helped and should be placed where they can't harm anybody.

I hate to victim blame, but I always wonder what classmates did to cause the shooter to withdraw and develop anger issues. It's usually not for no reason. A kid I went to school with was bullied violently for years and years for absolutely no reason, and guess what? He was arrested for an attempt at just this sort of thing. He'd made a hit list and was storing his guns in the school dumpster for later use. I don't even blame him; I was bullied right alongside him, again for NO reason, so i know how intense it got and how cruel they were. So why did this kid do what he did? What drove him to it? Im not saying there aren't people born bad; those exist too, but they are FAR less common than those who are beaten and taunted into this constant state of anger, who eventually snap.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe he never experienced love and so he began to hate/resent others. He watched while people were having fun, hanging out, making friends, dating, and felt left out like nobody cared. So eventually he started to resent and hate people for ignoring him and decided that he wanted to make them suffer too. I'm not excusing his behavior. I'm just trying to understand it.

I befriended 3 or 4 people in high school. It changed them, when they were my friend, no one would touch them. They were happy to be my friend. They would walk with me between classes or before school we had a huge group of friends so they were everyone’s friends! We invited them everywhere we were going. Years later, got messages Thanks for being my friend! Just sad, people feel so alone. Never felt that way, but people do! Can’t ever imagine hurting anyone’s feelings for any reason.

He had a Italian socialist tattoo on his arm, he followed new sites like CNN, The Washington Post, and MSNBC, and he held pro-vaccine views. Both times seem to be him *mocking* Trump rather than supporting him. But a friend of his came out (and yes, this friend gave proof that he knew the shooter) and said that the shooter wasn't left or right, but really just crazy.

I think it has something to do with parents also. Parents are lazy now. The video game, phone, tablet, etc raises their kid. Parents don't want their kids fighting back either. Mine were shooting very young & hunting at 12. They would have never shot up anything. But as an active parent - I would have seen it coming if they thought about it. Parents now barely know their kids. Everyone has their faces in their phones.

I'm a crime and psychology junkie and what I learned from drawings is that it's not just drawing guns... It all has to do with the nature of the child, angry, impulsive, violent, awkward, uninterested in others, self abosorbed, behavioral issues, doesn't show compassion for others or animals, etc..... Drawings can tell a lot about their nature too, if the kid is drawing violent pictures that show a specific plan especially that of torture, mass murder, arson, extremely gory and sadistic drawings, pictures where they are the ones inflicting pain on others, that's a huge red flag, especially if they have other violent traits.
