I love FMB. Last year I brought my metal detector and was able to greatly expand my collection of roofing nails.

I wish you all could've seen this beach and city back in the 1979s and 80s. It was beautiful. Palm trees as far as you could see, a really nice playground right on the beach, the old pier, and nothing was better than coming over the top of that bridge and seeing all the shrimp boats and that glorious red alpine looking A frame of the original Dairy Queen. No greedy investors or hotels to ruin the open ocean.

Florida is out on the edge like a tree limb. It's edgy and Floridians are aware, fast, and smart. I'm from the 305 and I've never experienced a 'faster-paced' city in everyday life than Miami-Dade. Longboat Key is a gem and St. Armand's circle also, fantastic. I have to compliment the architects, engineers, & labor, who work amazing miracles in Florida. On a sunny evening at Pier 66 or sailing to Elliot Key can be 'perfecto'. It has it's charms, Florida does.

Went on Fort Myers Beach August 2023, and never had seen it so desolate. There seemed to be a shortage of workers to help clean things up, so rebuilding can start. It's not a quick process; it takes a long time. I'm glad to see some improvement, but like I said it''ll take a long time to fully recover. The locals I am sure would be against a toll going there. Let it be what it was before. Just stronger buildings built to withstand the wind and water.

Why is this area taking so long to recover? I realize it was a bad hurricane, but Florida always has bad hurricanes and seems to miraculously recover and with amazing speed.

We had a home in Indian Creek park and had 6 feet of water in our mobile home from Ian. The fema 50/50 rule really hurts the rebuilding. Some of the structures that could have been rebuilt now have to be torn down because of the fema 50/50 rule. Post Covid everything is more expensive. It’s just going to take years to rebuild the area

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS You know not what you speak of. The damage was huge... Punta Gorda took a good five years to start to see improvements, Charley was small compared to Ian.

My dad brought our family down to fort Myers in 1977.my dad had the first ice cream truck in lee county back then .the county commissioners did not have any laws on the books back then .they did not know how to control him.eventually they had enough laws passed that it would take many years to produce those crazy laws,this country has gone to 💩 since 1977😡.

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGSyes and FNk insurance companies......10k+ for a year wtf..... Sadly there's no place that is without there reach. Everything's up for sale. I just can't to accept that I will never own a home in the USA.... So which is why I started building a home somewhere else in an other country.......I wont say where because people will flock to it. But the weather is always 72 degrees and sunny. People are friendly and you can live on $300/ mo extremely comfortably.

Big Sugar's waste fertilizer is polluting Lake 'O' then flushed down the Calooosahatchee River into the Gulf.
@MoMoMyPup10
@MoMoMyPup10 8 сағат бұрын
It's not just that but also all of the massive communities up north towards Orlando that is also flushed south to the lake, and there had been two releases from O not long before this video was taken. It'll clear up in a couple of months and then they'll release more down the river and the ick will return. This should be a national story it's that bad.

I wouldn't spend $15 to go to a toxic and trash infested looking beach lmaooo. What a bunch of rich, entitled boomer snobs. Sarasota for the win. Much better beaches and free access. The state of Fort Myers Beach actually makes me really appreciate how beautiful our beaches are on the East Coast and how I sometimes take them for granted. I went to Sebastian Inlet recently it was one of the most beautiful places I went to in Florida. Water turns aqua there.

Is the water quality on FMB crap due to the Caloosahatchee river emptying out right by FMB?I assume it's the same reason why over by Panama City the Apalacicola river empties out into Apalachicola bay and makes the water east of there junk but if you go just to the west from Mexico beach west its excellent.

Florida has alway been home of the Newly wed and Nearly Dead…When I was a kid and I’m 72, Miami Beach was where the kids sent Mom and Dad to die, 1970;I was working for Westinghouse, making Appliances Deliveries and nothing but old people sitting in chairs with Saliva Dripping and hanging out of their mouths as their heads would hang with sleep… they were near Death till the Gays took over and saved Miami Beach….

A toll? Are they kidding.... No one would go there more than once... They implemented paid parking downtown FM and it cut visitors by a third and put a hardship on all the employees who work there... The city just relented and give free parking after 5 pm and on Sundays so at least they are realizing it was a bad idea...No one whats to spend money to go spend money..... If FM beach was smart they would do a deal with a couple of the businesses on the land side like the KW Express and build them a huge parking structure then run a free bus to a few key spots or even a boat that takes visitors to the island every half hour or so for a a small fee..... This would cut down on traffic for sure.....
