For the first problem I divide 84 by 3 i get 28 which I figure is in the answer and usually the middle number of the consecutive numbers. Same with 90 I divide by 4 I get 22.5 so that is my middle number of 20, 25 so I use a multiple of 5 before and after my middle numbers. that is how i do word problems in my head with out having to use algebra. not sure if this method works for the easy types, but i could do the others like that.

Thanks, this is how exactly are teacher told us to do it, and because its first class, and we have like 7 more, we kind of forget, so i just look up how to solve this type of problem to help me with homework.

Mr.Whitt when do i use the the parenthesis in the problems.im getting beat up when it comes that part.im looking for the word times for X to use them.but in these problems im confused to do so.

Usually when they say times a difference or sum you will use parentheses.

Ive finally figured it out MR.WHITT.I watched your video a dozen times im ashamed to say so.Im fairly new to this.I can solve equations but the wording throws me for a loss sometimes.I HATE WORD PROBLEMS! Thanks to you I now have a REAL WEAPON OF MASS DESTUCTION against all forms of math that can be found at FORT BEND TUTORING!

True. I’ve stated that “x + 1” represents the larger integer and since we’re subtracting that value from “2x” you’ll need parentheses to show you’re using the opposite of that number.

Hello Trimacian beauty! I said it correctly. I was adding 2 to 31 to get 33. The variable x was equal to 31, not 32.
