@@raven4k998 True. Motorcycle is a whole different beast to a fighter jet and HUD helmet, although very useful and perhaps even necessary to fighter pilots who have enough time to process that information, is extremely distracting to motorcycle riders who have seconds to make their decisions in traffic surrounded by dozens of objects both moving and stationary at any given time.

First of all, humans are not even capable of processing information and reacting to it that fast, they're not computers. It's actually somewhere between 200ms and 300ms and that's if they know what they're doing or looking at. Simple and unavoidable fact. Btw we're not talking about muscle memory here, we're talking about HUD information that needs to be understood and processed first. Second, no one in their right mind would put $120+ million aircraft into situations where 100ms decide whether a mission is successful or not, potentially risking losing that aircraft. Yep, me again. Couldn't resist making a comment about this little gem that I found on their website. "Riding a motorcycle is a visceral, tactile, cognitive rich experience. As a rider, when you earn the trust and respect of your motorcycle and vice versa, it becomes an extension of your senses, and seemingly your very being." I can definitely state, sadly, that I have never earned the trust or respect of my motorcycle. In fact, despite our many years together I still find it hiding in the corner, shaking with fear, and have to gently coax it with premium grade oil out of the garage before it will allow me to ride. Before anyone asks, no, I have never abused my bike. But I bought it second hand, so who knows what horrors it may have endured at the hands of its first owner. With this in mind, I have arranged for us to see a Suzuki certified therapist. Hopefully, it will prove successful, and neither of us will have to be put down.

I had the initial pleasure and then disappointment of owning Nuviz. Despite being bulky and noisy, it actually worked. It's customer service also worked as I was a to get a replacement after first one stopped working in the rain. It had cold weather issues and the stupid battery door was a pain. But customer service handled issues. The device worked and worked great. The thumb controller provided hands on the bar control without the need to play around with device itself while riding. Fast forward to company failing to secure distribution of units, running out of money and well closing doors. The device continued to work though, issues and all. Until something weird happen and Nuviz would display update required and try to call the mothers hip. As it turns out Nuviz used a proprietary mapping software and when hard programmed license code expired, boom it went. Because of the way it was built, expired license would prevent entire startup rendering all of its features useless.

So I had a fair bit of confidence before shelling out the cash, and I don't regret it. It's a nice riding experience. The info it gives you is just enough to be useful, not too much to be distracting and gimmicky. And even if you don't turn any of the "smart" bits on, you still have a lightweight, comfortable helmet.

A helmet that in the mark 1 gave the majority of owners severe headaches because the helmets don't fit well and cause massive wind noise going over 60km/h and with such terrible speakers that when people replaced them with actually well made speakers then turned on said customers and denied them warranty on helmets for things that weren't related. They lied about when the helmets were being made and then kept changing the designs but sold the product initially as a finished prototype. Don't buy forcite it's all fluff and the current buyers are nothing but guinea pigs to get to final product that might actually be worth the money they keep asking.

Then when I went to mention it to someone else a few months later, they’d pivoted the whole thing, and now I see they’ve changed everything again. @@Gunks_ traffic cops know all the popular bikes … traffic enforcement is their business? As for helmets, if I can tell what helmet the guy infront has, so can cops, and as I say it isn’t going to take long to start enforcing if one brand has a radar detector in it lol, so that’s all just BS really. It’s the kind of thing bikers tell each other ‘ah you’ll be fine cops know nothing about bikes’. It isn’t true but we wish it were some times. Maybe where you are you’ve just got those slow thick cops from the movies that just eat donuts and hate lefties, but here in Aus… yeah you’re not gonna get away with it for long if there’s actual radar detectors in the helmet. Not to mention the cop cars have radar detector-detectors. Probably why that all went away in favour of the actually legal google maps option. But yeah of course traffic stops. You know.. like they do all the time. Before you showed the forcite helmet I was thinking EXACTLY that solution. A peripheral vision based non-blinding "marker" of somekind that just makes you aware of things without being distracting. There's also another serious problem with look-through HUDs and augmented reality that few people outside of niche researchers and bleeding edge gamers are aware of: Simsickness. Building something that your eye can look *through* and cleanly see the world properly is very hard to do, and the slightest miscalculation will lead to migraines and nausea at best.

I have one as well. It's working fine when I'm using it. Emphasis on "when I'm using it". The fact that, as you said, the battery lasts 2 to 3 hours max (for something I mainly wanted to use as an audio kit, that's low), and that the external remote needed to control volume and music tracks can only connect to my phone when I enable wifi, Bluetooth, and location (yeah, the three battery suckers!), makes it that I basically never use it... Totally not worth the 400€ I put into it. Oh, and the fact that it's using Android Auto, as you said, makes my Waze not usable on my phone (to configure my destination, for example) as soon as I connect it to the EyeLights If you wanted a feedback and thought about bying it, just don't. The gadgety HUD navigation is in itself neat in my opinion, but only if you have a powerful battery in your phone and that you don't need to change destination

Another thing: One thing Fortnine didn't point out about the Forcite is the control module that comes with it. The control module is a small bluetooth device that bolts to your handlebars or wherever, and it has tactile buttons to control things like volume, camera on/off, phone calls and a couple others. It works really well, and is a far better solution than trying fumble for these features on a side-mounted device with a gloved hand. Also, while the app is necessary for some functions, you can connect without the app or the module (I sometimes forget to turn it on), but some features are limited. For example, your helmet will connect straight to your phone without the module or app running, and you can still use Google Maps, listen to music, etc.

When I ride, I want as little tech as I possibly can. Looking at our phones and laptops all day, riding is one of those welcome occasions on which you can finally be OUT, head in the wind, looking far ahead, just enjoying the ride, switched OFF. That's what it should be about. Ryan is right, smart helmets looking for a problem.

Different strokes for different folks. Happily in the realm of motorcycles, there's still a choice, but it's diminishing. I don't mind the tech but I had to remove several bikes from consideration for my next bike, because they have always-on built in tracking, or are so computerized you MUST use the dealer for service, etc. It's probably going to push me into buying a used SV650 instead of anything new.

@@FortNine review the reevu helmet with its rear view mirror built into it by non electronics, it needs a angle adjuster switch so driver can tilt head downward as normally happens on bike for lower center of gravity , areodynamics etc, because not all riders are sitting up with back straight like scooter drivers and the view shows the the view angle as if drivers eyes were looking straight ahead and cannot tilt up and down. maybe taller default vertical view would be more effceint than a angle changing switch which would wear out after many uses. also talk about why hud on helmet and car is so difficult to make work regardless of eviromental light braightness etc... maybe a large hud, tinted for visbility of data during high enviromental lighting such as sunlight.a simplified version of mercedes s class 3D image gps display. lit up by biolumensence with a lens over the lighting to make light red for less strain and more visibility in dark eviroments and better sleep even when artifical lighting charges the biolumensnece when sensor detectes there isnt enough evoirmentla light to do it, less bright moving graphics creating urge to look at screen, biolumen will make it more effceint without half the display being too bright and other part to dark when under changing eviromental light conditions, as can be seen de tomaso p72 gauges and some old school clocks. transparent e ink display also improves effeincy and is less eye straining. alternative to my approach in maintream products is normal screen which requires energy to display things contantly while e ink only uses energy to change image displayed, and mainstream way would need light level sensors and computing power to constantly adjust the display brightness so perfectly. normal e ink display replacing infotaiment, allowsmaller screen accodmating many switches by semi automatic scrolling as is done to pull down the settings bar in i phone, each set of related switches acessed by scrolling thru pages, cheaper and not much more difficult to use than big screen. for personal computer applciation replacing screens in car, at home, tv etc there can be a e ink display in micorsoft surface style laptop except its tinted hud or maybe not tinted, then image of display is projected onto tranparent hud in glasses by lens work and optic fiber... so high graphics is seen despite a low graphics e ink display, as low graphics is the norm at th emoment, full rgb color is there but not very bold lighting and at th emoment it happens at expense of framesPerSecond and graphics, both of which lower the other when increased. ideally, computer is just a reactangle worn in bag somewhat like purism, and display is fully in hud glass.

I bought the first version of the Forcite MK 1 FE and have to say it’s been awesome. Their service is great. The camera takes HD footage that’s certainly good enough for social media, the nav works well - handy for when you don’t want your phone mounted and the speakers are great for listening to music on those long Highway rides. I’ve even taken work calls using MS Teams. I couldn’t go back to a normal helmet.

They denied customers warranty on helmets because they changed the terrible speakers on them.. Not to mention the terrible headache users were given from the helmets well documented wind noise caused by bad fitting. The forcite helmet is a product in testing. You're a guinea pig to them and paying double what the helmet is worth. Till they make a final and probably not awful product.

@@warmage247 absolute nonsense. I had a warranty claim on the FE for the strap and they replaced the whole shell. Their service was great. Yes the FE was a prototype helmet - sold at a heavily reduced price. The terms of use was that it was a prototype and we were testing. Everyone knew that. The Mk1S comes with all the improvements from that testing. I have met the CEO many times, Forcite are a social crew… I find your claims hard to believe to say the least.

I thought going from an open face to a full face would be awful, not so, the vision is great with this helmet, it's also comfortable and super light. The camera footage for me is on point. My husband also has a Forcite Helmet and was side swiped by a car on a freeway doing 100km, the footage was given to the insurance company and it showed the car driver at fault. So no black mark against his name and they paid out on the claim. Good outcome as the bike was brand new. Love all the tech this Helmet has and to make things even better, Forcites after sales and customer service is like nothing I have ever experienced, they do this weird thing where when you contact them they actually respond and genuinely want to solve any issues you may have they have nailed it. They are also interested in customer feedback, you talk, they listen. Super proud to be part of the Forcite journey and seeing other riders buying and enjoying this fantastic product.
