Honestly yeah. Fuck set in place metas, just shake it every every few days or weeks, it's a lot more fun for new players and demonstrates the gap between pros and casuals as pros have to develop all aspects of their gameplay

Look up “kusoge”, that’s the exact genre of video game you’re describing and I wager if you look up famous/popular/good kusoge you will find much more of the game design you love so much. It’s Japanese for “shit game” and is used largely lovingly to refer to games that are horrendously bad/poorly balanced/over-the-top/shittily designed on a competitive level to such a point that they become outrageously enjoyable to play just for the outright meme of it. Think games like Brawl Minus, Tr4sh, or Vishera’s mods, where every character and mechanic is so stupidly broken that it becomes a joy to wade through the absolute chaotic train wreck that is the gameplay. It’s largely used to refer to competitive pvp games and while the direct translation is “shit game”, the usage has evolved to a point where a more faithful translation of how the term is actually used would be closer to “shitpost game”. Many would also consider competitive Fortnite, Slam City, and NASB to be kusoge. Brawlhalla would not qualify since it has plenty in the “shit” department, but not much in the “post” part: it’s a terrible, ugly, horribly designed video game, but it’s also _unfun_, whereas kusoge by definition have to have their “fun factor” amplified by the cringe/shitposty parts. In true kusoge, every character is broken, every mechanic can be exploited, the visuals are outright cursed, everything is touch of death, there are easy infinite combos left and right, and all you can do is scream “what were the game designers thinking???” as you cackle in joy on a couch with your buddies as you both create pure, cursed chaotic energy on your TV screen and laugh at how stupid everything is. Oh yeah, Goat Simulator is a classic example of a kusoge as well, just lacking the pvp part which is a more modern convention.

Building was honestly the only thing that made regard the game with some degree of respect It wasn't just another battle royale (altho the building was way too spammable, that much is true) But without building it's just another shooter, i see no reason to even look at it without it If i want a shooter i can think of a bunch of better ones

The exact problem with fortnite is the amount of players, 100 ppl matches are barely competitive There's a reason no fighting game does free for alls competitively When there's 99 other people in the mix your skills matter less and less and luck matters more and more

@@rompevuevitos222 i'm not talking about the match i'm just talking about the playerbase, games with lower playerbase counts have problems with long queue times, and if you do queue into a match it's either not full or the same names you see day in and day out to the point i had gotten to know every single person i ever saw by their usernames on the server but also it's a battle royale which is difficult to compare it to a shooter, if you really want to go that route you technically don't need ANY players for a shooter and could just play through DOOM for the 50th time, that's kind of a weird comment to make without taking genre into account and the reasons why people play battle royales rather than condensing it down to just a shooter game lol. playerbase is important for the overall experience, there's lots of games i love which are fun but never took off like fortnite did and even if i find the mechanics fun, i find fortnite more fun to play just cause it has more than 8 people online at any time, if you like battle royales, you really can't dispute that apex and fortnite have a tight grip on the target demographic and has the playerbase to support itself. most others have just died and shut down as soon as the playerbase dwindled so... yes

@@rompevuevitos222 i was talking about playerbase and not number of players in a match too and for the fighting game reference just think about how playerbase supports a competitive scene, even if the game itself may not be competitive from your perspective, there is skill involved, and it is competitive at least monetarily considering just an average fortnite player has made more money than a lot of fighting game players do in a lifetime. not all good games get a lease on life. for every fighting game that has a healthy and thriving competitive scene there are at least 30 more that were dead in the water

Esport tournaments in Japan can't have payouts because it's considered gambling, which is probably a large part of why Nintendo barely supports competitive gaming

that's just the skilled based matchmaking working by matching you with people who aren't very good builders, the more actual players (not bots) that you kill while in a match, whether you win or not gets factored into your lobbies, i only found this out after i started getting lasered without any misses in my lobbies lmao
