No copyright infringement intended. My extended version. The original Four Tops hit....with the angelic Andantes, who sang background on most every Four Tops songs. One of my favorite Tops tracks. Hope you enjoy!

Just in case you didn't know, the owner of this channel, mosogotam, whose real name is John Perrone, sadly passed away April 5, 2020 from COVID-19. He was an absolute genius for this and all the other wonderful tracks he created. May he rest in peace.

The last surviving member of The Four Tops, Duke Fakir passed away today.😢😢😢😢 Although the men are not, psychically, around, their music will ALWAYS BE a part of those of us who grew up during the 60's and 70's. I like to think that they're, now, reunited and putting on A HELLUVA OF A SHOW in ROCK 'N ROLL HEAVEN.❤❤❤😢😢😢😢

I'm 59 years of age. The Motown Sound was a major part of the soundtrack of my childhood. My brother and I would spend countless hours trying to dissect and get into the finer nuances of this great sound (unplugging the right speaker to hear the bass and drums, but not the guitar or unplugging the left speaker to hear the guitar, piano and vocals but not the drums ans bass, etc...) Your mixes have made it possible to hear the raw, uncut Funk Brothers, down in that "Snake-pit" at the top of their craft. Man, what a time in musical achievement. Keep up the great work. Mosogotam, your mixes are bringing joy to the hearts of thousands.

Ole’ Levi Stubbs had a trumpet and clarion voice. Greater, in my opinion, than all the temptations combined. With perfect phrasing and even subtle inflections that put him squarely at the top level of the Motown troupe. A true “artist” vocalist that causes today’s self described artist to pale and just slink off somewhere wherever whatever. Heart, and soul, and a superlative gift. And class makes him peerless. And he loved and respected his band mates to the end. A real gentleman! Paul W. Green

Yes Levi Stubbs was one of the greatest Black Male Soul Singers ever, but him an David Ruffing ran neck to neck. David also had a very distinct unique voice that would not be denied. They are IMO 2 of the Best to ever do it, dut can not deny David Ruffin as well!!!

@@innocenteventiorbetello There are so many good ones to choose from, but David and Levi singing voice was almost perfect and they just had complete control over their voices. Just unique all away around. Then with Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye and Al Green, they were also great. I heard the first and short song, "Standing in the Shadows of Love," when I was in the eighth grade in junior high school. It is one of my favorite Four Tops songs. In fact, the Four Tops were my first favorite [male] Motown groups in 1965 when I heard their song "I Can't Help Myself, at my elementary school graduation. I thought about this song in my mind when I was in junior high school. All I can mention is that John Perrone, as Mosogotam, did a superior job in improving the play time to this song, "Standing in the Shadows of Love." I could not ask for more than I wish he was alive.

Why do you say that? Their singles were HUGE and unlike some of the Motown artists who left the label for other labels they actually got a few more hits after they left. "When She Was My Girl" on Casablanca was a biggie. If they were ever not given the respect they deserved it would've been when they were on Arista. I thought "Invincible" should've been a much bigger hit than it was. I also think that "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" is among an elite group of Motown single masterpieces, just my opinion.

Woo Hoo!! Listen to those bongos and bass breaks! Motown should give you a crown and a fat check for honoring their music and keeping it fresh for new audiences. Of all the Motown groups and artists, and I love most of them, it is the Four Tops and their amazing lead vocalist that now strike me as delivering the most raw passion (next to Marvin Gaye of course). This is a fine example of that passion and yet another brilliant extended version of a classic Motown record by mosogotam. I swear I would buy a double album of this stuff if it was available!
