+Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky I have one question... Is it possible for us... 3D beings, to fully understand a 4D object? I mean, to understand in fact a tesseract in a world with 4 axis? I can understand all of the relations and comparison with the cube & square, the square seems to distorce as the cube rotates and etc... But the image of a tesseract can't escape the one of a 3D object in my mind... Is it possible to fully picture a 4D object even not seeing one? (actually)
@kkb4748 жыл бұрын
+Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky I think all of your videos simplifies things by giving a good visual representation of the things. But this one is still complicated. The other video, *Drawing the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th dimensions*, is very good for the uninitiated to accept that you can draw higher dimensions in 2nd(or 2D). But this one can be confusing as you have chosen thick cylindrical lines, and there is no clarity as to which line is above or in front of the other line and this clarity is generally perceivable in parallel or prospective projection of 3D objects in 2D.
@kkb4748 жыл бұрын

When she said “Skeptical” I got all hot and heavy.
I tend to think of 4d in terms of coordinates. Even though I know that its just a 3d representation of a 4d object, I am subconsciously viewing it as a mere 3d object. One method I use to view higher dimensions is let time be used to represent a fourth spatial dimension. Then smoothly transition between 3d cross sections of the 4d object. I understand the 4th dimension but I cannot see it. When I use coordinates I can solve problems with it but not see the problems themselves. x^2+y^2+z^2+w^2=1 provides a hypersphere of radius 1. All points that satisfy that equation are on the hypersphere. I can only see that by visualising a 3d sphere that starts small grows and then shrinks again before becoming nothing. The radius of that 3d sphere at any given time is proportional to sqrt(1-(time)^2). That way I can see the 4th dimension.
@judemorel76976 жыл бұрын

Alexander Bray could we see our inside
@geodesicdeath29978 жыл бұрын
+not real no, we wouldn't be able to see our own insides but any higher dimensional creature that we might come across would certainly be able to. if you turned around and tried looking at our own world from your new 4d perspective, you would be able to see inside objects yes (including people's insides). you wouldn't be able to bend your neck to get the correct perspective to see your own insides unless you could somehow keep your body in the 3d and peek only your head into the 4d. Hope that makes sense.

@mueezadam84387 жыл бұрын
our eyes would still see in 2D. We'd have to build artificial eyes which could see in 3D, for computers it doesn't make a difference what dimension something is because an extra dimension just means an extra value is needed to represent an objects location. Which is pretty exciting imo

The coloured graphics really help in comprehending the sides of the tesseract which are essentially cubes.
It would be better if, similar to painting every side of a cube in a different color, you made the cells of the hypercube opaque and colored every cube differently. That would be a real mind-blower.

The way this 4D tesseract, or rather, hypercube rotates, definitely is angular giving its undulated movement. Take my word for it. It means that there are 6 cubes, in general, that make up for this 4D shape, okay. Yet since it then means that out of our 4 “other” cubes apart from our 2 “actual” cubes, those 4 are truly flipped on its “other” opposing side in its proportions, like, in height, width, including length, when being rotated as a whole, M’kay. Which causes not only the four cubes to look flatly distorted in its rotation, but the whole entirety field of perception of this uniformed shape, to feel all jumbled up and very brain-racking when continuously played on this 2D monitor, alright. The main point is that the 4th dimension is a representation of time itself, upheld and esteemed within by the science community, but those guys are referring that you how you cannot map out the concepts or blueprints of time into a simplistic shape to understand and furthermore study, do you follow. Because since we are simply three dimensional creatures with a possible or higher fourth dimensional mindset, our eyes though cannot keep track to comprehend its grasp. When talking about the 4th dimension without slowly analyzing it at first before saying you completely understand, those in the science community, will discredit, ridicule, mock, laugh, steal, blame, alter, foreclose, and withdraw you after seeing the brilliance in your work, but also the contingencies when releasing important information.

Could this same techinique be done with 4d to make us "see" 4d?
@ItsNinjaPro Жыл бұрын
If you were to have a camera that could somehow capture 3D Photos, sure you could. But for now, that beats all the laws and even the very foundation of physics, so I doubt you'd ever be able to see it in your lifetime. By the way, by 3D image, I mean that rather than the photos we have now that can only capture a mere viewpoint from one angle, if you were somehow able to construct an image that has all the angles of a 3D environment compressed into it in a way that without being a video, it could show everything in that environment, it'd be a 3D image.

@pasionxbox3606 жыл бұрын
The video is referring to a 4D space, not a 3D space and time, time is represented as spatial axis in math, but it really isnt, but you can think it this way: you have a friend, there is a tunnel, you are standing at the end of the tunnel, and your friend is standing at the beginning, only 1 person fits trought the tunnel, by using "time" as a fourth dimension, you can pass "trought your friend" using the fourth dimension (you pass first, then your friend), you were on the same place on the first 3 dimensions, but on different on 4th, in this video, the bars are not touching each other at any moment, the problem is that you can only visualize 3D, and this is a 2D monitor
@-_Nuke_-6 жыл бұрын
We don't know what time is. Saying that time is the 4th dimension is very risky and scientists use that analogy very carelessly. The point of the video is to show you that IF you try to convince your mind that what you are seeing is a cube, (even though it's not, that's why the plastic is going through the "cube") then you might get an easier "insight" of what the 4th dimension looks like. Best "attempt" at explaining 4D objects so far! I say attempt, at least to me, because it is still hard for me to imagine :( I don't want to say it this way, but as 4th dimension is usually said to be time, does that mean 4D objects are...Animated complex shapes?
@geodesicdeath29978 жыл бұрын
+ahmedp800 Pretty much. The individual frames of the animation would be analogous to having a a 2d picture of a cube; it would only be a single slice/perspective of a higher dimensional object.

+ahmedp800 I always think of time as the last dimension, so in 3D stuff its the fourth, and in 4D stuff its the fifth, and so on
@ahmedp8008 жыл бұрын
Airtoum Aha interesting So there are 4D shapes that we are unable to perceive, and time is the 5th Then, why even consider time as a dimension?
@airtoum8 жыл бұрын
I dunno
@stigrynning11 ай бұрын
@@ahmedp800 As an explanation, this is very limited. Nevertheless, I think it is in spacetime in general relativity that time is considered the fourth dimension because it states that space and time are one entity with the two deeply connected.

The cubes are inside of each other though, as we aren't able to see the fourth dimension where the cubes are separate. In a cube you can move one 2d part of it and it will still be 3d, but that section to a 2d person would look like a bigger line, so we can't see the changes of individual cubes in the fourth dimension, as it looks like it just got bigger and more weird.

So this is still hard to grasp visually when the teseract is being rotated. Granted, if i were in a 2d universe and a cube was rotated in a 2d direction it would be hard to visualize as well. Is there a way to rotate a 4d object in 3d?

Here I have a thought, maybe in the forth dimension 3D are just like points. If you use two points you end up with a line. Use two lines you end up with a plane. Use two planes you end up with a cube thing. Use two cube things you end up with a higher first degree dimension line . Use two of the higher first degree dimension lines you end up with a higher first dimension plane. Use two of those you end up with a higher first dimension cube....so on and so on...but most likely there is nothing like higher dimension lines planes and cubes either

Its almost as if after a certain degree in the rotation (360) of the square, theres an inversion that, that must happen inorder to start the CYCLE of SPIN again. Like a mobius strip. To visualize a little better, it would be as you need to walk from point A to point B but you only have 15 steps forward and 15 backward. It takes 30 steps to get from A to B so on the last step forward you spin and start walking 15 steps backward. The catch is if you technically walk 15 forward and 15 backwards you never actually moved from point A to B. You just spun 360 in a 4dim space

For me rotation of hypercube makes perfect sense. Yes, my brain can't calculate lots of things here because it isn't powerful enough (3d brain is more powerful than 2d one just because it fits more neurons and connections, and so 4d brain is much better than 3d one; also humans automatically understand 2d picture as 3d world because evolution, and with 3d picture of 4d space you would have to imagine everything manually). But I think they had to make it so that stuff that is further from us in 4th depth would look smaller (like buildings far away, but here at any place, really). It would make much more sense.

If you think of our world and everything we see as in a 3d cube, surrounded by 3d cubes on top, bottom, and all sides, you’ll realize the 4th dimension is all around us and through us but we will never be able to perceive it until we die.
