Buying a Porsche 911 GTS? Then this is the video to watch. In this buying and depreciation guide of the 911 991 GTS, I am showing you the full depreciation curve, the depreciation per year and per 1000 miles driven. Furthermore, I show you how these numbers compete to the GT 3 , Turbo, Carrera, and Carrera S. As it turns out, the 911 GTS is the best value for money 911 you can buy.
You can contact me on fourwheeltrader@gmail.com if you would like a personalized analysis.
Carrera depreciation analysis: • Why NOW is the best ti...
Carrera S depreciation analysis: • Why you should go for ...
GT3 depreciation analysis: • Porsche 911 991 Turbo ...
Turbo depreciation: • Porsche 911 991 Turbo ...
The video is structured in a top-down way. That means that we first have a look at the full market and some general price levels. After this, we will dive into the details.
Specifically, this means that the video for the 911is split into a few parts. We will start by having a look at the 911 GTS market. As you will see in the video, the market is relatively small, and the price variation is large. Especially the special editions such as the Reunion and Club sport demand a premium. After that, we inspect the depreciation numbers. The depreciation per year is relatively small and the curve seems to have flattened for the 997 generations. We also split the market further by the manuals and automatics cars, coupe, cabriolets, and targas, and generations. The depreciation per 1000 miles is in line with other cars in this segment. In the third part, we investigate how the depreciation curve of the 911 gts compares to the one of the turbo, gt3, and Carrera (s). Here you can see that the GTS holds its value better. At the end of the video, we also compare the depreciation rates of the gts to all the other cars which I have analysed on the channel. This shows that the GTS scores slightly better than cars with a similar age.

Really good analysis! We bought and spect a new 991.2 targa GTS and got it delivered in the beginning of 2018. We paid 1450000sek (164000usd). There are now two for sale in Sweden with about 10k miles on the clock and they are up for 170000usd. The Swedish market is going strong!

Been waiting for this analysis for a while as I'm hoping to pick up a 911 in the near future. this confirms what I've observed. gts' hold their value better, so from a new purchase perspective, it is the better choice. from a used car perspective, i would probably consider the few years older S version as that would have taken the larger depreciation and leveled off. if only the GTS curve was steeper in the first couple years, closer to the S drop off and then a harder level off. but then again, it's that way for a reason!

Thanks for the video. i have had carrera S and GT3RS, GT4. I am a few years older now. Thinking about a GTS for my next Porsche. Although with the current dealerships mark up 🔝, in Southern California Porsche dealerships are asking GT3 15k over MSRP. It sounds not good. I like cars but I am not keen on paying this type of mark up. I called my Porsche dealership, my sale told me 30k over MSRP on a GTS. To me, I worked hard to earn my living, this is a no no to pay this mark up. It’d really took the fun out of purchasing a Porsche. I am not in this hurry to buy a Porsche. And the dealership around don’t have a GTS nor GT3 for a test drive before the purchase.

I think it’s misleading to say the GTS has $7,900 per year in depreciation. What you are really saying is there is a $7,900 change by model year. I feel to correctly calculate the depreciation of each model you would take the new price (ie in 2011) vs current sales price. Seems like that would give you a very different view. Especially since each year would have inflation os at 3%, that would account for around $4-$5k difference in price.

I have an issue with this entire analysis because you are not looking at the depreciation curves for any given model year. The right way to do this would be to look at the price of a model year over time. What did a 2012 sell for in 2012, 2013, 2014, and so on. With your analysis, the big error comes in the average selling price increase every year for a new car. The % increase is different every year and for every model.
@fourwheeltrader
@fourwheeltrader 3 жыл бұрын
True. An analysis of the values over time is the correct way to do this. To my knowledge this data is not available though. Having said that, since im doing this for a while now, I made several analysis which use data from more timestamps. See for example the covid19 price impact video and the corcette c7 market update video. Also, for cars which are relatively new (max 10 years old), i found that the approach based on model years gives good estimates and therefore serves as a proxy. The more a market is bottomed, the less good the model year approach works.

Totally flawed because actual selling prices are not taken into account, and neither are actual selling prices when new. This “report” is meaningless.

The difference between selling and advertised prices is insignificant for the analysis. It would shift the full market slightly downwards, hereby not affecting the relative numbers.

@@fourwheeltrader Wrong, because it would not shift values by a Constant amount! The fact that you don't understand this means you shouldn't be posting these videos. In some cases purchase price = asking price, in other cases purchase > asking, and in most cases purchase < asking; but in widely varying amounts. Price when new is also important, not just MSRP. You can double the base price of a Porsche with options. Makes a massive difference in what you're trying to do.

The fact that you don't understand this shows that you don't understand the data and the statistics behind it. It's about the distribution shift. Regarding the new prices, these are the advertised new prices and include options.

This video is a BLATANT LIE. Porsche GTS or C4S loose about $20,000 a year.
