I retired after 25 years as a corrections officer and I agree with his assessment of incarceration rates. Prison should be a place to warehouse violent offenders. Oftentimes those violent offenders either plead out to a lesser sentence due to the large number of accused awaiting trial or get out of prison earlier than they should due to prison overcrowding. BTW, the war on drugs isn't working either.

I’m afraid Drugs has won the war on drugs Dan those in power just won’t have it. As long as there’s pain in the world people will want drugs and as long as people want drugs and are prepared to pay there’s always going to be someone to cash in and supply them.
@jeremyreevessicg2218
@jeremyreevessicg2218 2 жыл бұрын
The approach to the war on drugs is incorrect. I was caught once for trafficking (I was a junkie) went to prison and stayed high nearly every day. Was turned into an animal, got out, and really started selling. Got caught again with weight (still a junkie). An informed judge sent me to treatment instead of prison. I got treatment, not incarceration. I now have a sobriety date (been sober a long time). I'm a productive member of society with my own business. Successful! I was sent to treatment and then a sober living facility, not prison. Prison is for violent offenders and dirty ass sex offenders.

Rick’s story should scare us all. This could happen to anybody. I truly hope the people in power listen to what he has to say. 33 years stolen from him for no reason other than greed and corruption. He sounds like he educated himself while in prison by the way he talks. I respect him for wanting to work on restoring Detroit, the very city that caused him so much grief. I myself would want to stay as far away as I could from that city. The system did so much wrong to him, but never broke him. I wish him nothing but good in his new journey.
