Foxbody Motor Transformation! Clean, Gasket & Paint DIY : TIPS05E14

I've done many of these over the years and honestly probably one of the most rewarding tasks you can do in terms of a visual transformation! Check out my process on bringing this old 302 back to life. She had great compression at 140psi across the board so I opted to leave the internals alone but swap out the gaskets, oil pump and hoses etc.
With all the gaskets, cleaning supplies and paint, I did what you see hear for less than $200! + My $300/hr rate LOL.

Great work, just did my motor for my 90. I actually tried my steamer and it worked magic when cleanning it to help avoid the water pressure. Amazing with some freshpaint and gaskets can do.

This episode was a great inspiration Chris. I blew a head gasket and decided to pull my pushrod motor and trans and I’m currently cleaning and repainting everything on the motor and installed all new gaskets, oil pump and shaft and rebuilt a set of GT40P’s. I wish I could post a picture.

I had my motor/trans out this winter for a freshen up and I dragged my t5 to the carwash with some oven cleaner and it knocked the boogers right off

I like using high tack spray on gaskets such as timing cover and water pump.

Chris, I think you and I are the ONLY people that use those blue intake end seals LOL! My Buddies keep them and give them to me. I just can't bring myself to heap the sealant on the ends... Good vid!

Don't forget to tape your 1/4 socket to your extension of you're going to do it that way. You don't want to lose that socket in the engine after you just sealed it back up and filled it with oil.

I have a rebuilt 306 with aluminum heads that overheated after the rebuild. Now its leaking coolant at the back of the heads, only outside. Not leaking inside. Should I go ahead and replace and replace the gasket or maybe only retorque ?

Love your attention to detail . Did you paint the trans Ford grey as well? Looks good. Mines out at the moment as well as engine so might do the same color on my trans
