@@robinjames7967 has a "white" player ever publicly sat out of indigenous round? Since no one has sat out, does that mean racism doesn't exist in Australia? Of course not... These strawman arguments could go on forever... If you can't say "that's against my culture", is that oppression of culture. Couldn't that be classified as racist? I'm not calling you racist, I'm merely pointing out there's hypocrisy. What if a person had no qualms with individuals having whatever sexual preference but didn't want to become the "pride" poster boy, and that person simply decided it was best to sit out a week of football rather than put themselves in that position - remember in that religion it could well ostracise the individual (wrongly or rightly in your opinion, that's the case). Would that individual, without even speaking out against the LGBTQIA community or really even doing anything to hurt an individual or group of people, really be a bigot? Just because one person believes in a certain way of life, it doesn't mean the next person must accept, adhere or even understand that way of life, much more be forced to publicly support or accept potential risk reputational loss. It's way more nuanced than simply feeling like someone is a bigot when they don't support something you might feel strongly about. We can all get on while having different opinions - that's the beauty of life. I've had my vegan mother in law explain that I'm not a good parent because I allow my children to eat meat. She admitted that all other aspects of my parenting are pretty good. I felt pretty offended at first, but on proper reflection I really do understand that's just her thinking she's doing the right thing, but we'll never see eye to eye on that one. There's really no use me trying to argue, getting upset, hurt or calling her a bigot. She'll feel the same way about me (calling me a bigot for not understanding her progressive views) and the cycle of division keeps on going. I get over it, understand she feels strongly that eating animals is murder, and I think it's me being part of nature. We realise we have more in common than what divides us and we learn to get along, and actually enjoy each others company (as long as I eat tofu at her house haha). How about I agree to grow up, if you agree to calm down and don't let the outrage cloud what is actually the real path to widespread acceptance and inclusivity...

Forcing players to wear this LQBTQI+ pride jersey or be forced to not play is exclusionary however because it forces players to make a statement in favour of sexual conduct that conflicts with their religious beliefs.

No need for a pride round because there's no need to politicise the game. The game is one of the most accepting and diverse sports that exists. If players want to represent the LGBT community, they can wear arm bands over their jersey. If I were a player, I would wear the Manly jersey this weekend, but I'm completely oppossed to the idea of using players as pawns to push a political statement. Ironically, a move that was intended to promote inclusivity has lead to the exclusion of 7 players. Intentions were well meaning, but let's keep politics out of the game. After 1.00 in those questions are simple to answer, the people that push these ideologies onto others know that there will be those that resist or disagree so they leave it to last minute hoping that those who disagree or protest will buckle under pressure and their movement will be successful. As it is they kind of win as a lot of people especially those that support their ideology will feel happy exposing those who do not believing social pressure is the way of forcing people to accept their views.

A willingness to stand up is admirable. The harm caused by these religious beliefs is not. It is time to stop giving religions a free ride. Make them pay their taxes like all other businesses. And stop treating criticism of their beliefs as taboo.

@@bradyjansen3023 so if a players religion said that black people were living in sin for being black, you would also admire their beliefs and integrity for sitting out indigenous round? @@jackmacgibbon I admire the guts it takes to get up and have your say no matter the subject. It doesn’t mean I agree. Muslims and Christian faith both have a similar view. To some people their faith comes before everything. The pacific islands are strong in their beliefs. So once again I applaud people that have the discipline to stick to their faith even though I am not religious at all.
