Fuel Moto is the company I buy from when ordering performance parts.

They are correct and wrong at the same time. They might have a tune from a previous dyno tune that they use from a similar bike and setup.

You can install it yourself. But it should be tuned by the dealer or someone who has that knowledge.

I had a Stage 1 Screamin' Eagle kit on my 2020 Softail Standard, tuned by the SC Pro Street tuner. I wasn't happy with it. With my Shortshots, it popped bad on decel. I pulled the plugs, and they were grey-white, which is running lean. Brought it up to Harley and they said that's just the limitations of the tuner and what they're legally allowed too do because of the EPA crackdown on their tuners some years back. Anyway, it'll get you by if you want to maintain your warranty, but as far as tuners go it's a pretty poor one. When I bought the Fuelpak FP3 and installed just a canned map, the way the bike ran and even sounded was totally different, and it's not running lean anymore! Decel pops are 99% gone, exhaust tone is way more throaty (I attribute that to getting proper fuel now) and low end torque has massively increased. Bike doesn't lug at real low RPM like it used to. Plugs are a nice golden brown color. V&H definitely makes a solid product.

Well from what I understand now, you can use any tuner and not void your warranty. So that's a good thing. IMO. I like the dyno jet power vision. Much better than the Fuel pack 3.

I would definitely get it re-tuned. If they did the tune, find some where that does performance tuning. But I would replace that tuner with one from Dunojet.

That's a great point. I always say a dyno tune is the best way to go.

@@DrHarley I can’t afford a dyno tune lol. But I’m playing with the SE pro street tuner becuase that’s what I have. I think if one takes the time to manually calibrate the lower positions and the deceleration it’s possible to get your bike happy going 30mph. Now most places won’t mess with it. They will do one maybe 2 auto tunes and call it good. Buying a different tuner won’t work unless you’re able to download a tune someone else made and it work out for you. But the chances of that are slim. I don’t think fuel moto tunes deal with the low positions and decel. You just gotta take the time to manually get it tweaked once you’re done with the auto tuned z

Yes dyno tunes are expensive. But we'll worth the investment. I have used the fuel moto tunes until I get to a dyno. They seem to be good enough for now. But a custom tune is the way to go for best performance and fuel efficiency

@@DrHarley honestly if you’re using a fuel moto PV3 or 4 you can probably easily enrich the decel on the tune and save as new. I almost bought one but I figured I’d just use what I got. I have bought a PV3 from fuel moto a few years ago for a Indian scout and I had the same issue. I think EFI big twins all have that issue due to emission laws. Good thing about is working on these Harley’s is a million other guys are as well and we can all share what we’ve learned.
