It's maybe the most exciting game of the World Cup so far. The defending champions take on the favourites, the hosts, the World Champions Elect. We were joined by actual pro analyst Conor Wilson from Wibble Rugby to dig into where the game might be won and lost...
If you've enjoyed any of the channel's content, you can also support Squidge Rugby on Patreon by visiting / squidgerugby , so I can feel supported in all of this nonsense. Thank you.

I have to make two precision : - Captain of the defense in France team is Fikou, not Dupont - A very powerfull and underestimate stuff is the precision and the length of ball kicking from our 9,10 and 15 ether during the game or for kicking penaltys. I believe the winner of the game NZ-IR may impact the psychology of one team or the other on this game. If NZ wins, France will suddenly feels 10 feet taller against SA. If IRE wins, SA will gain the same confidence. As Galthié said: this quarter final will be treated as a World Cup final type of game. The intensity will be gigantic.

I have a theory on it : in 2022 (don't know if it's still the case) France's points scoring would decrease as the game progressed. Also France has generally a bit of a hard time coming back for the 2nd half in the first 10 to 15min. So maybe with guys like pollard coming in fresh later in the game, Rassie wants to kill France at the death. But that's very risky however, because that means you'll have to concede as few points as they can in the first 40mins.

Erasmus sends a clear message: he wants his team to have possession of the ball. The strategy is to lead the game, deprive the French of the ball and wear down the French defence. However, he should not underestimate the physical condition of the French and their ability to put the opposing team at fault.

Ive been all in on the Saffers to winnthis WC for the last two years, the Ireland defeat didn't stop me from thinking that either, the Saffers made some funny tactical defisions in that match that they wouldnt in KO rugby. Problem for them is its a QF and France havent had their big performance yet, the big perorfmance where the whole country screams them to victory. Complete 50/50, France by 2. Also France then also use up their full emotional energy beating SA and take my boys England lightly and fall once again to us in a home semi 🤣🤣

Is it wise having Dupont back out there? Like there's people asking the refs to take extra scrutiny at any contact he gets into to ensure that SA aren't trying to injure him. But if that's the situation, he shouldn't be on the field to begin with.

So Im here after NZ beat Ireland. Tactics are one thing, but there is an unquantifiable factor as well: SH teams are just better at springing surprises and raising their game for the knockout matches. Tonight is going to be a thriller, but make no mistake that the Boks are up for it... And it is a team that has done it several times in the past.

The ref's from NZ, we're gonna have a mountain of controversy, doesn't matter who wins. Refs from the antioodes generally don't care for scrummaging, so, the scrums will be a mess, the line outs , well, apparently you can line up wherever you want, a meter apart is not neccesary. Watch him nail one side for a specific type of penalty in the 1st half whilst the other does the same but just doesn't get pinged, then get spoken to at half time and then blow it the same for both sides... O'Keefe's notorious for it. Don't expect to many rolling malls either, these are just to techinical for the men from NZ and OZ.

Gona repost this... France at home, during a WC 1/4 Final is probably the game even Ireland would find hard to win. If the pack clicks- they can match / edge the Boks. Also the backline in terms of X-factor is just better. The entire stadium will be boiling couldron of French Fervour, if the team finds themselves on the back foot- the power of "La Marseillaises" will lift them and give them new vigour and hope. If they ahead , it will supercharge their game even further- that's when the magic of the French Flair will be on full display for all to see- in such a scenario the game can be put to bed in a 5-15 min period of French je ne sais quoi. For the Boks, the entire stadium will be against them - the Stade de France will make Twickenham / Eden Park / Carisbrook seem like a kids bday party venue. Every big hit or marginally late tackle will called out by the ravenous citoyens. Any 50-50 call, will be collectivelly willed to favour the home side. The Boks defensively and discipline wise will have zero room for error. If Dupont plays even at 75% of his ability, the task will just move from improbable to near impossible, The little general marshalling his troops like Napolean, will ensure a long and bloody day for the South Africans. As for the Boks, in a way this almost suits them, the reigning World Champions( after their Ireland loss), are now no longer favourites, infact they are underdogs - the position coincidentally from which they produce their best rugby. The siege mentality will only bolster their resolve. They will come to bring the pain to this test/game. Bone crunching tackles, spine jarring hits , a repentless defense that just does not give the opponent any breathing room. They will be beastly, brutish and barbaric, in trying to dominate and ultimately subdue the French with their slow poison gameplan. Whoever wins will feel physically like they lost come monday morning...A worthy final, relegated to do-or-die side quest, regardless, an epic encounter awaits - one for the ages indeed. The 6-2 Bench for France means they are ready to fight fire with fire. Boks with 5-3 split means they want to come out and play. Wonder if any late "slipped on a banana peel" changes are in store for either side...Hopefully a cracking game!!
