Touring Taliesin, one of the most prestigious homes ever built. Designed and lived in by famed American Architect - Frank Lloyd Wright, who is often considered the greatest architect/visionary of the 20th century. Taliesin is located near Spring Green, Wisconsin.
Tragedy occurred here in 1914, when a house servant went mad and murdered Frank Lloyd Wright's mistress, her two children, and four other guests with a shingling hatchet, and then attempted to burn the house down.
Frank Lloyd Wright went on to rebuild Taliesin after the fire and named the new home Taliesin II. In 1925, another fire broke out sparked from faulty electrical wiring and Frank Lloyd Wright later rebuilt Taliesin a third time, thus naming the current structure Taliesin III.
End song: Explorer's Theme written and performed by me on piano.

Thank you for the excellent video tour of FLW’s “Shining Brow” Talieson East. On our 1st wedding anniversary (Aug. 25th 1980) my wife and I went there for the day! We packed a lunch and walked down to the river under an oak tree. Nine months later we welcomed our first child Jennifer into the World! Yep 😅very inspirational scenery!

@@GetmeouttahereErikHere’s a question for any Real Estate agent. What would be a reasonable asking price for Taliesin East and the property if it was listed in todays market? $1B?

10:19 The only arch at Taliesin. This was an access point for rooms below the main floor. 13:13 The lower exterior wall has an access door (look closely) to the boiler room where Julian Carlton was found. 13:43 The staircase (center, adjacent to stone pillar) is the exterior terminus of the corner-door stair access seen at 17:15 (behind man in pink T-shirt), 18:05, and 18:12 (the latticework corner is a door). 14:24 At left is an access stair down to guest rooms on the lower level. 16:27 The stair leads to an elevated storage area over the vault. 20:04 This part of the Living Room is directly over the boiler room. 20:36 This stone floor was originally the terrace where Mamah and her children were seated for lunch. 21:30 The space above is the end of an impractically low-celinged corridor that begins at the top of the Loggia stair at 22:34. 21:45 Burl Ives, Carl Sandburg, and Alexander Woolcott slept here. 21:49 The small doors visible above allow access from the top of the Loggia staircase seen at 22:34. 23:18 The red panel in the corner is the door to a hidden staircase going up to daughter Iovanna's rooms and a corridor that ends in the low-ceilinged space seen above the living room at 21:30. Regards, Kev ps. There's lots more . . . -K.

Amazing commentary, I will be visiting and filming a tour soon of Taliesin West. I look forward to more architectural deepcuts! Also thanks for sharing the boiler location, I wondered if and where that existed. Dark connection but historic nonetheless.

I’m new to your channel. Thanks so much for this video. Hope by now that you’ve made it to Taliesin West and/or Falling Water. They are both magical places. I’ve been interested in FLW since I lived in a house built by one of his students. FLW’s Wild accomplishments are especially amazing when one considers that he carved his niche when most other architects were building Victorian-type structures.

Enjoyed the video tour much though we toured it a couple years ago. Early this past Summer my buddy was following me on a motorcycle ride and when we made a right turn I immediately realized it was the Unity Temple right there so I pulled over on the shoulder. My buddy asked “Why are we stopping”? I told him to follow me and walked him straight to FLW’s grave. He was impressed that I knew. I must say it was by chance. I had not realized that we were riding so close to Taliesin because we live about 1-1/2 hours south in IL.
