Hello Hoppers! Sometimes when you arrive at a big airport, like Frankfurt Airport, there are so many people and so much going on that it can make you panic and not know which way to go. At first when I went to check in, I was a bit confused. I took my time, looked for the right signs, went step by step, and then I had no problem. Everything was clear! You be the judge of that, in the end, was it all clear?
I don't TELL you how to TRAVEL, I SHOW you.

I think if that had been me, I would have had a panic attack. You just coolly explain it all and go with the flow. I hope it never happens to me. A very interesting video from you as is to be expected.

I'm glad I got that point across, just stay cool and look at things more closely. I really got confused because Terminal 2 has Concourses D and E, so I didn't know what was going on. Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers!

Another splendid video. I've seen a video showing Dubai airport changing its gates names so that the gates are numbers only i.e. no letters in the gate names. They said they did this as numbers only was less confusing to passengers. Your video here would seem to give credence to this.

With my home airport being Frankfurt and me flying out of T2 regularly, there is a very simple explanation on how to understand this terminal. Imagine a rectangle in front with one of the long sides facing top and bottom - much like your screen (unless you are watching this on your phone in portrait orientation). Now draw a divider line down the middle, from top to bottom. Everything on the right of that divider is "D", everything to the left is "E". This applies to the counters, the gates and even the baggage claim areas. Now, while each airline has its more or less fixed set of counters (some airlines share their counters when they don't have many flights and are handled by an independent ground agent), the check-in for any airline will be consistently in the same hall. (Until they shuffle things around, but that doesn't happen too often). Now unlike T1, where concourses A and B are almost exclusive to Lufthansa and their Star Alliance partners, there is no fixed gate assignment in T2. The only two factors usually are whether it's a flight in the Schengen area or not, and whether it's a small enough plane to make people ride the bus to the aircraft or load them via jetbridge. (Size is not always a factor, I have deplaned from a full 777-300 into just two buses. Oh joy.) It effectively doesn't matter anyway, since access to both the D and E gates go through the exact same security checkpoint which es between halls D and E. The only tricky part here is whether you pass through security on check-in level (Schengen flights) or a level above (non-Schengen flights, where you actually first pass through passport control and only hit the security checkpoint before entering the actual gate lounges). In theory, the automated gates that scan your boarding pass and separate passengers from non-flying public should only let you in the right area. These two different paths can only be told apart by the gate NUMBER, not the letter. There's D and E on both levels, but the numbers are distinct. My biggest gripe with T2 is how they operate outbounds there. At least for the Schengen gates, they don't usually use the actual gate lounges. They make people wait in the main corridor with very limited seating until it's almost time for boarding, then they scan you into the gate lounge area where all the seats are and direct you right down the stairs to where the bus departs, where you have to stand and wait again until the bus is finally available.

Do they stamp your passport after security???
@MuchoHop
@MuchoHop 5 жыл бұрын
No, not after security. If they are going to stamp your passport it would be when you enter a country. In the old days, they always stamped my passport when I traveled within Europe. So I used to have lots of stamps on my passport. Now with the EU, you can cross borders and you don't even realise it. They do not stamp your passport going from Spain to Germany or France or Italy, etc.

That is a not big problem,last time we take plane from Stuttgart to Barcelona.The ticket shows that we take off at Terminal 3 but we take S-bahn to airport and we have to walk really a long distance to terminal 3.When we pass the security we walk again really a long distance.And finally I found,our gate is in Terminal 1 instead of T3.Because Stuttgart Airport is just like a big sandwich,T1,T2 and T3 are in the one building.The check in counter is in T3,but we have check in online and we have only Carry-On!!We can just walk directly to gate when we leave the S-bahn!!! Stupid.....

The Frankfurt Airport is just confusing even for veteran flyers. On all those small signs hanging up there, you dont see the word "check-in", compared to other german airports like Munich or Stuttgart, people who designed the FRA ought to be shamed of themselves.
