Hi Paul. I'm only recently curious about Fred & Ginger. I'm 57 and I feel like I've just been asleep at the wheel. But they are indeed fascinating and what talent! I just wanted to say thanks for your fun and informative video. I appreciated the time and thought put into this. 🙂

Hey, thanks for watching! I had the advantage of living in the middle of nowhere with only one TV channel as a kid, and for some reason the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Network) decided we needed to see all 10 Fred & Ginger movies over a couple weeks. I was 9 and impressionable. Obviously, they haven't become any less exciting to me over the past 40+ years!

Excellent & classy review. Funny to see the Feebles pop up in a review of Fred Astaire & Ginger Biscuits (as John Lennon once reffered to them) haha. But all good stuff. So great to see more & more KZfaq videos on Astaire & Rogers!!! KZfaq are slow to let you know what's out there i think and such a joy to find something new!!!

Yeah, referencing Meet the Feebles in a Fred & Ginger review seemed a little dicey, but I think it makes the point of how people change & grow. And it's just fun to reference Meet the Feebles, to be honest.

@@paulthomas3247 I always got a big kick out of my divergent tastes. Buying CDs of Astaire & Rogers alongside Doris Day, Garbage and The Who. : )))

@@markhendry9173 I once checked out at a record store with k. d. lang and Ghostface Killah. The clerk scratched his head and said he hadn't seen that before.

I admire your dedication, watching those less-than-stellar movies multiple times. I couldn't get all the way through Royal Wedding even once. And I agree with your top 4, though I don't think I could rank them. They're just the best ones, in any order.

These are my favourite movies, just want to say thank you for caring about them (and picking the correct best one haha)

As an adult, I love Irene Dunne movies (especially those with Cary Grant) and now realize her comedic talent. When I was a kid, my only exposure to her was "Roberta," and I had no idea just how great she was!

This ranking is amazing! I would only switch "Follow the Fleet" with "Carefree" because I do not have an emotional attachment to the former and enjoy that Ginger chases Fred in the latter. "Swing Time" HAS to be number one. It is one of my favorite movies of all time! So beautiful!!!

Thanks so much! I actually wavered between Follow the Fleet and Shall We Dance. I took my parents to see Carefree on the big screen (the Egyptian in Hollywood) several years ago, and my mother immediately said it was her new favorite Fred & Ginger film. How can you do 9 films in a row in such a short time, and they're all so great???

I don't notice thinking about these movies often, but they pop up all the time in my thought processes. I've had occasion to make reference, in the past 2 weeks, to We Saw The Sea, Cheek to Cheek, and the discussion in Top Hat about the horse's parentage.

Although this is in no way my area of expertise, I still enjoy your excellent videos. I'd love to see a Lau Kar-leung top 10 Paul, if you are going to be doing ranking videos.

@@mitchsfridaynightsongclub2594 Telling people their rankings are wrong is the whole point! I am seriously considering it. When I started out, I'd thought about ranking the Venoms films, but several other people have done that very well.

@@paulthomas3247 I wouldn't tell anyone their opinions are wrong unless they were to include 5 element ninjas as a venom film, ha ha! I haven't found a single video yet ranking Lau Kar-leung films, or Chor Yuen or Ho Meng Hua or Sun Chung.... Or even Chang Cheh. Seriously though your videos are always excellent viewing so it would be a real treat to see.

@@mitchsfridaynightsongclub2594 Chang Che would be like apples and oranges - he had such completely separate stables of actors and the later stuff which got waaaaay out there, so saying an Iron Triangle movie is better than a Venoms is completely subjective. I looked over Lau Kar-Leung's *directing* filmography (skipping the action directing, which I feel unqualified to rank - though Drunken Master 2 and Legendary Weapons are standouts even to someone like me) and might have an inkling. The bad news is, I've already mentioned most of my favorites in my previous videos so it'll take some writing.
