This race did not live up to the hype. Everyone still looking rusty and unrefined. Would have been an epic race later in the season.

Kerley didn't perform too sluggish. I was disappointed with Omanyala. All that just to lose by a meter. Where is that 100m start and finish? Bromell is rusty, but I need to see more of his races later in the season. Simbine was overlooked in this race. Tebogo had a nice finish not even going to lie. I know I discussed this on twitter but still 😆

@@SPIDERM0OSE Probably. This was a MR. But even in terms of how the race went I don't think anybody raced that well. Fred was twitching and his start was meh. And its pretty obvious where everyone else went wrong. Simbine was the only person who I think had a smooth race from start to finish but he just isn't the beast that Kerley is.

Considering Jacobs’ 60m start and top end speed, I think he would’ve won against this field. People forget that Jacobs ran a faster time in the Olympics finals than Fred did in the WC finals. That track was never that fast historically. This race gave Kerley the new stadium record, the previous time being 9.98 which was previously matched by Christian Coleman, Ronnie Baker (both U.S.A. in 2018), and Chijindu Ujah (Great Britain in 2017). The 200m stadium record is held by Andre de Grasse at 20.03, and the 400m stadium record is 44.33 which is held by Akeem Bloomfield. That still doesn’t help the hype around this race, but it’s another sub-10 clocking for Kerley this season.

Also one other race earlier had -1.8m/s headwind so there was quite the wind jumping around on the stadium and NOT the +2.0 m/s one. The 110m hurdles field had an epic field as well and had 3 restarts due to the stadium ppl making noise so maybe that was also a factor. (110 hurdles had Grant, Allen (back from NFL), Parchment and a new stellar dude who won)

@errol simmonds I watched frank Frederick's here in South Africa where he competed before going to America. This was his high school days. He was a great sprinter, possibly better than Akani. Great physique for a 200m runner, 5 ft 11 and I think only about 70 kg. Maybe two or three more kg. There some videos of him running in south africa a on internet, Gregorio Sport might be the site. He was a skinny kid, with beautiful running form. Do you know that in late 60s SA had a great sprinter, Paul Nash, equalled world record 4 times. He was one of the great sprinters of late 60s. His career was ended by arthritis at age 21, 22. SA was obviously banned from olympics due to apartheid politics. But SA was in those days not banned from world athletics. He beat everyone world wide, British champ once or twice. Only race he lost in his career was once to Jim Hines in America. He was only 20 at the time. 1967. Also south african Reggie Walker won Olympic title , 100m in 1908. If you american you probably never heard of these sprinters. Roy b, CapeTown south africa 🇿🇦

The Rabat race had the gold and bronze medalist from 2022, the current WL and the U20 gold medalist. You round that out with perennial contender Simbine, 5th place in 2022 and Yohan Blake. That was the real money race. The runners who ducked that showed their true character. That's the race you cover story wise. LA Grand Prix was and is an afterthought.

@@LoneGunmanProd You cover BOTH.... especially the race that produces the fastest time. It also featured a very strong field. The silver medalist in Bracy from 2022 and former 100m world champion in Coleman. Plus a few others... Of course you cover the Kerley race but I was simply saying the other big 100m race, the faster of the 2, should be covered as well. I mean, if he can make an 9 minute video about Matt Boling running 20.1... in a preliminary 200m round, he should make time to cover a 9.8 100m finish and slight upset. That's all...

Kerley kinda cheated. What if that wiggling was intentional. Notice how despite so much of it, he still started fine. The most impressive thing about the race is Tebogo. If you watch just him from 2:16, you notice how the rest of the racers are moving as a unit and keeping a pattern, a specific form that moves forward as a unit, then Tebogo just accelerates right through that object to be an anormally, he was actually second last. Damn I thought exactly what you said, a strange race : - Fred Kerley's wiggle at the start not being called by the ref - Omanyala and Bromell going completely side to side on their run and not having a straight trajectory like usual - Omanyala looking on his right to Kerley at the 20m mark !! and struggling to keep the pace (you see him getting tensed up) - Tobogo thinking he's still running against U20 athletes and not running hard enough On the 100m hurdles there were 2 false start because of a long hold from the ref so maybe it might have entered their mind (specifically Kerley's one) In the end F.Kerley is the only one that had a good start, ran a straight line and kept the same speed until the end. He's the one who went the fastest (42km/h) with a really good start, and who kept that speed the longest which still make him a good finisher like Lyles. At the moment Fred Kerley is the most consistent runner, his start is quite uncommon, almost like Ben Johnson with his two feet almost at the same level, considering his height, its impressive!

None of them should be peaking right now and there were no rounds to get the comb wells out. And most of them just probably arrived to Rabat a few days ago. I’m also sure they were tight. If someone had ran something in the 9.7s it probably would have been difficult to hold that form until late August. Regardless it’s still about who handles the pressure and crosses the line first. Also, if Kerly kept pressure applied to the blocks it may not have set of the alarm, or it was broken. Hopefully he’ll realize that can’t occur at Worlds.

For all who wonder about the times. It seems there are some factors who influence it like the track surface, weather conditions, and also the x factor. It’s still relatively early in the season, so the time is not relevant. These guys would be crazy to be in peak form before it’s necessary. We sometimes wonder why those running fast early season don’t perform well later. It’s due to burnout from running too fast too soon.

Track surfaces ARE NOT EQUAL, some are just "slower" than others. Additionally, just a question, do track surfaces age over time and become slower, the way hardwood basketball courts can age and become less bouncy?
@rougesify

But for some reasons, it also seems tracks in the US are particularly “faster”. As soon as US runners run outside their country tracks (whether in Europe or MENA) times go dramatically up.
@jamezkpal2361
@jamezkpal2361 Жыл бұрын
The starter should have called them up but I don't think it made a big difference as most of the runners would've been aware of Kerley's slight movement. The track at Rabat is a little soft, better for distance runners than for sprinters. 9.94 at Rabat would be about 9.84 at Rome, say. What it shows is that Kerley is the best 100 meter runner in the world regardless of conditions. The Italian over trains which is why he's so often injured.
