This video explains Frederick Taylor's theory of scientific management and motivation. This theory is also known as Taylorism.
In this video I’ll explain the key points of Taylor's theory, its advantages and disadvantages and the how the principals are still used today at McDonald’s.
The scientific management theory is based on a couple of simple concepts:
- the main motivator for employees is pay
- Science can be used to increase efficiency and productivity
- Workers should be given one task and should learn to master that task

I agree with Taylorism in that money is the biggest motivator. Just that companies instead decided not to increase wages for productive workers, only give them more work to do

I definitely agree with you in that wages don't rise anywhere near quick enough and that the best workers always get more to do with no increase 👍

@@TwoTeachers they're bringing in a thing at my work where you write down how long it takes to do each task and are insisting that it's nothing to do with this but I'm keeping my ears pricked up for the sharpening of the axe. Another big problem I have with Taylor is that this approach means because you see such a small part of the picture, its really hard to make meaningful suggestions to streamline productivity and its so hard to be proud of what I'm doing if I can't see the finished product. What this approach does lay the ground work for is automation

Would an organisation in a fast-paced business environment use this scientific model of management or the human relations model?

That's a great question, however there isn't a set answer as its all about the organisation and their culture. Some fast-paced business organisations may lean slightly more towards the scientific model but some may also lean towards the human relations model instead. It's what works for them. Sorry we couldn't give you a more direct answer. Hope this helps.

Taylorism definitely led us to a dystopian society where workers are treated as slaves/cogs in systems where the system is more important than anything else. People may be miserable but at least the system's needs are met. thank god our precious systems are treated fairly.
