They look lovely. I've only ever seen pictures and video as they aren't native to the UK and unlike many other species, haven't been introduced. They appear to be similar to our bullfinches but are much brighter and maybe a little larger? Our Bullfinches have a tendency to bully smaller birds off feeders, so some backyard birders dislike them, but the smaller birds get their chance when the bullfinches aren't there. Great video - I take it you had to use manual focus to stop it constantly refocussing on the snowflakes.

Stunning Fred, every video is most cinematic than the last, and I always learn a tons as a new (nearly one year) Beekeeper. Wish we had Cardinals in California, I grew up in Michigan and do miss them. We are blessed with lot's of Bluebirds up here in the the Motherlode.
