Latest version of VC is just one device. You can then select whether it’s a sender or receiver. Absolute invaluable tool!

I don't know why DAWs don't provide this kind of plugin as standard. It can't be that hard to implement.

I’ve got my Macs built in system zoom set to Cntrl+scroll and I’ve just been zooming way I’m trying to match the little Ableton gain meters. This is way better! Insta cop

Funny timing. I have this plugin, and just yesterday was trying to remember the name of it and if I had the latest version - and Boom! here you are talkin about it. Btw, I watched that Push performance of Feelings you did a few years back --- Damn! It was excellent!

where do you put the file? plugins folder or someplace else?

@@ktheai5908 Plugin folder, either standard System Folder or Custom Folder (managed in Preferences>Plugins.). If it's not showing up you can restart or tell AL to rescan plugins from same place in Preferences.

@@ktheai5908 anywhere you’ll remember. It could be your User Library (the folder on the far left of the main ableton when it’s open). You can right click on it and click on “show in folders.” Drag it in any folder you’ll remember. It could be the audio effects folder/max for live effects or a custom made folder. Create the daw settings YOU WANNA WORK IN

I always just group the saturator & made a macro so the as the saturator drive knob turns up it automatically turns down the output volume.

You had to play it back like 6 times for the device to get the level right. Seems like it would be easier just to quickly turn down the output.

Yo, Watsup. Love the kit I have a question though. This might be on my end, as a maschine user, usualy when a folder has folders the kit gets broken down into the subsets. The file pops up and everything is there just not separated.

Useful. I downloaded and donated. I do have one question related to gain staging using this device or using for example Ableton's Utility plugin. In the video you have your "effect plugins" between a sender and receiver volume compensator plugin. What if you want to add a sender and receiver plugin on a track with an instrument ? In Ableton it isn't possible to add a sender (or Utility plugin or any other plug-in for that matter) in front of an instrument plugin ? How can you in that case ensure the incoming gain (sender) is at the right level at the beginning of the chain ? Any advise/insight would be helpful.

Can't you just turn down the output on the Saturator, and watch the volume fader in session view to match the volume level?

An audio engineer taught me that we have a tendency to think things sound better if they are louder. Not just like "Yeah bro, rock n roll 🤘👅" but a verifiable auditory illusion/mental trick. It can easily lead to too many hot tracks = clipping = mix sucks. Having a plugin automatically normalize the output volume can help you tell if the fx you're applying *actually* sound better to you, or if you're falling into the More Loud = More Better trap.

Just use utility instead lol, profit will be that you finally know how to gain staging works... And, i mean ise the damn dry/wet knobs and shit, use utility after heavy processing. Common sense actually, but too many people don't wanna even getting bothered with that....

Extra step and you can’t compare without volume increased. Auto gain staging gives u a clearer idea of your sound quality without loudness illusion

I dont see the point of this plugin. Just turn down the output knob of the saturator (thats whats it for).

I think this is a game changer my guy. this is extremely useful for compression. If you try too A/B a source your ear will always prefer the louder signal 99.9% of the time. This plugin really allows you to hear what your actually doing to a signal. I do agree tho it isnt as useful for saturator.

@@thikdikriky1559 Thats why i love abletons effect chain. it literally has a little meter before and after every plugin. So u can match the level of the output. Every plugin has a output knob, not only saturator.

I think it's a huge pain to have to consistently be manually gain staging everytime you wana make adjustments on a compressor/saturator/etc. But ay different strokes for differnt folks. Decap knows what's up tho w this device
