We camped one night in that area 6 weeks ago, the rain and wind overnight just about washed us away and did collapse out tent. There are also networks of ATV trails out there that can look like normal roads on the map. We ended up going down some steep wet stuff on a road that turned into an ATV trail. We were in my Jeep with high clearance but still decided the way forward was too steep and narrow for us. We turned around and thankfully we were able to climb back up what we had just driven down.

First, when you talk to us, as you do in this video, I feel as if you're talking directly to me! You're talking as if you CARE about your viewers...this makes your videos so special. Then, there's the photography, which is unquestionably professional and the coup de grace: the editing! So smooth, the transitions fit and blend perfectly. So impressive, so enjoyable. I cannot wait until I get my rig and try to mimic what you guys are doing. Your smiles mean that you really are enjoying your lives, I'm very happy for you! When Dave and his friend went on the hike, would US Geological Survey maps have been helpful?, for example, in the hike shown here, would a USGS survey map be helpful (or would the resolution of such maps not be quite enough?). Might I ask that one day, you perhaps might think about putting together one or two videos, such as: "The benefits and drawbacks of having a dog on your travels" (I wonder about all the restrictions) AND perhaps "an advisory video about drones" (the pluses and minuses) because now your experience is considerable, so your "expert" opinion I'm sure would be very appreciated. This request, of course, is off course for you so I'd understand you just sticking to what works for you, as your current formula is wonderful. Again, thanks for your time and effort!
@oneadVANtureatatime

Hi Robert! Thank you so much for all of your kindness! We are excited for you to get on the road and have as much fun as we are! Survey maps sound like a lot of fun to have along. I love maps especially good old fashion paper ones. I had to use many maps on this location including aeronautical charts to make sure I did not fly over restricted air space (arches nation park). Plus I used a drone map app, Google maps, and my state Benchmark map. In my opinion you can't have too many. Thank you for some good ideas for videos! I would like to make one on using my drone for sure. I don't think many people know how much work goes into each flight. We have done a couple videos on having a dog along and the pluses/cons..we can always do more. These are fun video ideas, thank you! We hope to see you on the road. 😀👱‍♂️👩🐕🎾

Great campsites in the whole video. The Rockies don’t play and it snows often I see. That’s wild they shut the interstate down for wind. That never happens on the east coast. We will shut the bridges down for wind though. Nice hike to the sand stone area and great drone footage. 👍🏼

We hope that infection is on the mend for you! It sounds like a success other than that! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We met up with a handful of nomads we have never seen before and had a Vansgiving. We did it potluck style and we had a blast.🍗😎

Maybe 2 miles in at the most. You could easily do this hike! I wish you guys were there with us, it was like finding a hidden garden of rock. Very magical. 😀

It's important to research a bit before heading out into the backcountry. It's fine to hike down a sandy wash, but not ok to trudge all over the cryptobiotic soil (black lumpy stuff in the sand). It's extremely delicate and it's all that keeps the soil from suffering severe erosion in the fragile desert climate. It takes decades for it to grow back, if ever. Be careful where you step, please.

You were close Dave, it's pronounced Vee-dah-VOO. The W is pronounced as a V. Its a really pretty area though the beetle kill has really devastated the tree life up there. I-80 through Wyoming in the winter can be a pretty gnarly drive, though so can I-70 through Colorado. Personally I think I-70 west is a prettier drive. *Waves from SE Wyoming!* Those shots from Moab were absolutely gorgeous!

Right on! We love Wyoming. Most of the back roads have nearly no traffic on them and the state is packed full of wildlife. I bet the winter wind and snow can be brutal! 😀❄️❄️

Hi Carrie and Dave, It is absolutely magnificent view!!! I drove from Ohio to Washington state on I-90 while you were driving back to Colorado. I had to stay one day at Livingston before I get to Bozeman due to wind. Now I am in Seattle at my son's place and found out that I have been purchasing wrong link of Amazon for 3 months. My son saved Amazon link through your website on my laptop. Now I want to know what you are using for clay water filter. Thank you.

Hi Hannah! We filter all of our drinking water from our Travel size Berkey. We have a 20-gallon water tank but only filter the water we use for cooking and drinking. We appreciate you trying to use our Amazon link, thank you! I hope I answered your question right. 😀

Hey guys another great video I love watching your videos amazing content. By any chance can you tell me the name of the snow chains you guys have and possibly the size. I drive the same van as you guys. Thanks again and be safe

@oneadVANtureatatime 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We got the chains at Les Schwab. They had to cut a few links to size them...then I had to cut a couple more because they were too loose. They are a bit too loose so I can't drive faster than 20 miles an hour or risk tearing the wheel well out. They are awesome at low speeds. All check out the brand name while at the tire shop soon.

Great question, if your travel trailer has higher than normal clearance you just may be ok. There are a couple of steep washes that will challenge longer setups. The departure angle of the trailer will be the problem. The further you go in the rougher it gets so if you find a good spot early..take it. 😀

At 9:50 that exact spot. Was there an established trail that you followed or did you just bushwhack and walk out there? About how far of a walk from the Klondike bluff camping area?

I'm assuming you had a drone permit to fly in the Arches National Park? You hiked into Arches National Park the back way without paying the cover charge, flew your drone at the hiking spot coordinates in the video description? You do know you were flying in Arches National Park at the Bluff's? You weren't fined for this? I guess you didn't learn where to fly after the Buffalo River incident.....
@oneadVANtureatatime
@oneadVANtureatatime Жыл бұрын
You are incorrect…. We DID NOT HIKE INTO ARCHES NATIONAL PARK! If you take the hiking coordinates and research the national park border you will notice we are roughly .3 miles away from the park boundary. Now to break it down in simpler terms… .3 of a mile is approx 1585 ft… a football Field is 360 ft from end zone to end zone. This means we were OVER 4 football fields away from the national park border. Dave DID NOT fly his drone over this distance.

Do a little research! Walking through the crypto bionic crust is a huge environmental impact on the desert ecosystem. This black crust (literally all around you while you are hiking) prevents erosion.
