The funniest line in the movie was when the weird man child streamer in his mothers basement said something along the lines of “don’t touch that sock, it’s my sacred sock, your opinion of me will be changed forever” The fact that disney saw that line and was ok with it is a miracle

I'd imagine Disney is not so keen on subtle adult jokes, but if they took out this line, that would have been very bad for the movie, as it would lessen the immersion and believability because everyone's so pretentiously "innocent" because of demands of the Disney corporate overlords.

First off, I think this is something that only Ryan Reynolds could pull off. So many parts, like the whole Dude thing would have been cringe inducing with another actor in his place, but he walks that line to perfection. This was one of the best movies I e seen in awhile. I honestly think this film is way more original than it gets credit for, most people want to just lump it into a category of “cameo heartwarming comedy” but I honestly think that the story is far more compelling than it gets credit for. The way we watch guy change after his AI gets “unlocked” by Millies humming, and how he impacts and changes the other NPCs too. This movie is far more than just a comedy, even though the timing on those jokes is truly special sometimes. The romance didn’t feel forced because it was revealed in such a unique way with his feelings being written in the code. It was hidden in plain sight, but it was so well done. Final thoughts. This is one of my favorite movies I’ve seen. This movie (and how it’s viewed) is in my opinion an allegory for free city itself. Free City is a dumb shooter that’s super popular but not very advanced, but when you uncover enough layers, you can find the true genius in the NPCs AI capabilities. Free guy as a movie is similar where it appears to most as a dumb comedy with action scenes and full of laughs, but only some can truly discover the genius of this film, because the story is special, and far more original than people give it credit for.

Oh there's no doubting Free Guy's intelligence as a movie since it's just as self aware as it's main character. And as for the love story, Guy became Millie's Manic Pixie Dream Man to some degree like Molotov was Guys Manic Pixie Dream Girl but they aren't stock characters designed to rejuvenate each others lives then leave. In Guy, Keys created an extension of himself. The twist came left field since there were very few signs in the movie as how strong Keys feelings for Millie were other than friendship.

Honestly while the writers didn't get a lot of deep technical details correct, they kept it simple for all of the non-technical people, and it was still believable enough imo (as a senior developer myself). Honestly I chalk it up to them getting the technical details right, and the way things look inside the game world is just the visual representation of what's happening. It's a little loose, but it still works for me. Also, this is the first movie in a long time to truly feel original. Even though there was some fan service with the Captain America shield (and Steve Rogers), it made sense because video games often have in-game items based on movies (look at Fortnite for example).

There was just one plothole: in the beginning the "Millie" and Joe Keery's character specifically stated that they were just friends, and they still ended up together. Just a little unrealistic, that they have been so close before even the events in the movie took place, and then they got together because of what happened in the movie. This can also be explained by the fact that as I heard they changed the script in the last minute, so the "Guy" and "Millie" don't end up together, but the two live people would. Makes sense though, just a little bit strange.
@imaboss641

I feel like Guy was comprised of keerys feelings and millies personality traits. Therefore in theory she was falling in love with herself because of the things she had in common with Guy. So them ending up together in the end didn’t really make sense to me either. But unfortunately Guy isn’t real and they couldn’t have her being with an “NPC” so I guess it makes sense. Although at the end I had hoped they would a version of “Millie” into the game for Guy since he was in love with her.

The only hang up I have with this movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed, is that if they actually created a self aware AI they would be mega-billionaires overnight. This would be a world shattering event not just a cool new game. I know, I know its just a silly premise for a fun movie but the RL implications of a discovery like this are actually very, very scary.

Funny, I instantly remember that particular dude yesterday that I saw in a comment section of another Free Guy related video who got _way too serious_ about the possible realistic consequences/ramifications of the events within the film, proving how badly written this movie is 😅 Anyway, the movie didn't say that it's not possible for it to happen. I mean they can still be overly famous because of that achievement while also being able to release their own video game for the general public. But the movie and the filmmakers surely decided to focus on the release of the video game instead since it's where the focus of the movie was, not on the possible _realistic_ consequences of their actions or of what they've discovered later on. But yeah, just like the ^other guy said, Keys already brought up the fact that they could win a Nobel prize because of it, implying that it really was a very big deal even in their _world._

The director has said that Disney execs were at a test screening and saw "euphoric" audience reactions, and they felt that this movie should best be experienced in the theaters. So presumably they didn't have as much faith with their earlier movies that got day-and-date releases.

For years and years and years forever actually mainstream media has ignored internet culture, youtubes, twitches, heck even tiktoks celebrities are footnotes compared to somone who was in a couple successful movies. The thing is KZfaq MATTERS, they cant ignore us anymore. One day there will be world where some celebrity like pewDiePie walks that red carpet and is recognized. Big charity events will make the news, articles will be written about the drama and the hot takes and the communities around the internet! Incels cracked down on! Dream smp recognized! Power given to the billions in of people that make up these communities! Yeesh this is long, i feel very strongly about this, anyway exited for the future, whos with me?!

I just watched this the other night and loved it. As a gamer I appreciated the jokes only gamers get because it didn't feel like someone writing something to Target a specific audience but only scratching the surface level and not doing the research or trying to appeal to a demographic that they know nothing about. I loved the cammyos from actual streamers and KZfaqrs like Jacksepticeye and when Chris Evans came up and they started playing the Avengers music I lost my mind. It was a solid movie.

A legit Guy costume is much harder than you imagine (if you don’t order from Amazon). I live in San Diego, I TRIED to find “free guy,” clothes that actually fit and look sharp like his do. I act like Guy and the few people that I know who saw the movie told me I had to go see it and dress like him for our Halloween party at work. I loved it! Every part of the movie, no criticisms whatsoever. So I ride a red Ducati motorcycle, my favorite shirt for nearly ten years was a baby blue three button Henley (I’m wearing it in my Linked in profile pic), I’m 6’1” 170 lbs with light brown hair. So I look somewhat like Ryan (ok he’s obviously better looking). I also just picked up a pair of thick soled bright blue carbon fiber running shoes (just happen to be about the same price as the movie pair 😬) the day before seeing the movie. I spent the next month thinking that it would be super easy to find a pair of light colored, athletic fit kakis, a short sleeved athletic fit, light blue button down with a pocket and NO PATTERNS OR LOGOS!!! All I can say is “good luck!” I did eventually find a new Henley, and a pair of kakis that were not quite right (as well as a button down but with a logo). But to get movie accurate stuff is hard to just find.
